Im sorry to say but there would be easy be half an hour labour to do the health check plus they put it on the vas 5052 check tyre pressures, all levels, stamp the log books,do a safty check on the car, test drive it etc they cant work for free sorry to say... go ahead and do your own oil changes are you putting in the right oil in to start with it makes me so pissed off when people think that dealers charge way to much but you have got to remember they have the latest tools to work on the cars plus its cost them a hell of a lot to open the doors every day..

we obviously all have experience with chatswood classic cars here. sure they check if all the screws are still screwed in and that the car still has 4 wheels and for that their services are priceless. hell lets spend 1000$ for them to stick it on a hoist for 5 minutes. the first check DOES NOT mean an oil change its just a rape your wallet check.

and we're not all blundering idiots when it comes to cars

    Hi Guys,

I do know of CCC and know they are one of the best VW service dept's in Syd. The health check is one way of stopping owners ringing up at 8000kms saying the engine oil light is on and i want an new car because its using to much oil compared to (insert make & model here).

Unlike most people on the forum not everybody knows how to check and correct levels or what to put in them. This is the service dealers provide.

Dealer servicing is designed to taylor for customers who do nothing to their vehicle. Could you see the owner of a V10 T changing oil and filter or even fuel filters?

Our staff cost alot to keep, our facilitys cost alot to run, the pressure of increasing budgets never stops, the saying goes "you are only as good as your last month". All this and also keeping the VW ISO certification, our DIA or customer satisfaction up to VW standards.

The best thing about dealer servicing is you have the backing of the dealer, VW Australia and the dealer network, not to mention the extra good will if something goes wrong out of warranty also one of the best parts warranty of any brand in Aust.

Please think of the dealers in a good light, we try to make you happy. We have bus drop off's, car's for use, coffee, tea and everything else that may keep you comming back.

As my boss once told me " we can do anything you want, but it depends on what you want to pay".

Sorry to off load on everybody but just had to say my bit.

    Thanks for reading.

Hi Service manager and welcome aboard.
Nice to have your expertise and hope you stay around.
Most likely you are going to cop heaps from our members for a while.
VW's are great cars but from the majority of threads this has been let
down by VWA and Service departments.
Hopefully you will stick around and be able to have your say on matters
    relating to our issues.
Might be worth another thread introducing yourself to all the members
and let us know what big discount you can offer us from your dealership.
    Neil.

Yeah welcome to the forum dude.

I think ill sum it up in a summary. "I don't mind paying for a service as long as I know it will be done right and without drama."

One example ill give is from another dealer ( who shall not be named ). Apparently I needed a new alternator, from the "Alternator Workshop" error message. I asked if they could check if the alternator was the problem which they said it was. I ask if it could be repaired and they said no. I asked for the alternator back so I could get a second opinion and they refused. I then said fine ill take it to a local auto electrican only to get and I quote "The alternator in the Bora is in a very difficult spot. We have already taken it out and for us to put it back together is going to cost you as if we have fitted a new one so you should just replace it."

The cost for me to get it fitted from the un-named dealer was $2100 fitted for the Bosch. Now, lucky I know a guy there who did it at trade price, $1500. It also took them over 6 weeks to find and fit the part. I managed to sneak a peak at the invoice from the auto electrican they out sourced it from and it was for only $600ex gst labour ( which I got charged $800+ for apparently a VAG check that never got done as I found out ). Im sorry vw dealer but who is ripping off who here?

This is why I am now using my local machanics, auto electicians and brake specialists to look after my car as I know if they do something, it will get done. I am saying that from being to 3 VW dealers....
