Won't work in anything but the Jetta which has the cigarette lighter in the front ashtray. These won't work in the accessory socket without modifications so don't waste your money.

I thought only cigarette lighters don't work in our accessory socket, so I assume this should work. I bought one to try anway, if it doesn't work on the Golf, I'll just put it in the Civic which does have a cigarette lighter.

The ones on dealextreme are a copy of the original spotlight (which they have for sale as well). Spotlight on their website state that these won't work in cars that have accessory sockets, I've tried them in a heap of Golf V's that have accessory sockets and it works in none of them whereas it does in my wifes car that has a cigarette and some other cars I've tried.

The only way you can get it work is to force it down and push the little tabs in but this could damage the socket. I didn't see an easy way to modify the socket. The end sits about 3mm off the bottom contact in the socket hence why it doesn't work.

You can remove the flip up cover on the socket as well and this light would fit in there with the cover down as well if you can get it to work.

"Spotlight plugs in and charges from your vehicle’s cigarette lighter. Many accessory 12 volt power outlets are larger than the cigarette lighter outlet. Spotlight will not fit properly in the larger accessory style power outlets. Do not modify your spotlight in any way. If it does not fit your vehicle’s cigarette lighter outlet please see the accessory section for an adapter."
