Hi guys,
I need advice on the following.
I am in the process of and looking to buy a Golf R32.

For peace of mind and knowing that I paying big dollars for the car, I want to make sure I am safe and not getting a lemon, and reduce my risk in the future life of the car.

2. What about getting a proper inspection, any nationwide companies you would recommend??
3. What about getting an extended car warranty, any one has done that and recommends anyone, cost??
4. I looking interstate, any advice about buying from another state.
All advice would be greatly appreciated ppl!
And if anyone is keen on selling their R32, PM me plz.

Hi, can answer 2 & 3 but not the rest.
I just got a golf & had State Roads inspect it for me. http://www.vehicle-inspection.com.au/
There is a sample test on there so you can see what it includes. Just dont waste your money getting an RACV inspection. They don;t do s***. With this guys you can talk to the mechanic prior and after the inspection to let him know if you want him to do any thing thats not on the test. The guy that did the test for me was so friendly. I called him at 7pm and he was still nice lol. charged me $269 & it's well worth it.
Extended warranty costs from $1680 to $2200 or maybe even more for an r32. Cost depends on whether the car has been serviced &/or purchased at the place you're getting the warranty from. and that's for 3yrs & it is a warranty from VW as opposed to from the dealer...
I'm planning on getting the extended warranty also.. so anyone have oppinions as to whether its worth it. My biggest fear is that the DSG will stuff up & then i'll be stuffed
hope that helps

Thanks for the reply seno_123. Great info.
I have the same worry as you interms of the DSG and if I am buying a car with 50,000km+, that is definitly a worry.
I definitly have to factor in that extra cost (warrenty) on the cars buying price then...

1 what to look for would be tyre wear as they can wear very bad in the inner edges on the front wheels.
very common to have noisy steering from left to right but most of these cars would have been fixed under warranty.
Ive seen quit a few with noisy water pumps
As for the dsg box there not as common as the other golfs.
I would still get the car looked at by dealer before you brought it . And yes get the extended warranty for sure these late vws are not cheap to fix when something goes wrong..p.s does it have to be dsg as we have found that the r32 is more suited to the manual and the gti is better in dsg..cheers steve
