    Auto Dimming Mirror Supplier

I have a 2001 VW Bora 4Motion that is the love of my life (don't tell my wife). It has the auto dimming rear view (internal) mirror with the rain sensor etc. The mirror however seems to have peeled away from the dimming film on the insde of the mirror casing. The local VW dealer in Melbourne wants to charge me $600 just to replace the part (part number "3B0 857511 J8YS") not including installation!!!! Does anyone know if it is possible to replace just the glass and know someone who I can contact to do so (everything else still works fine like rain sensor etc), or if not, where I can find a replacement complete mirror assembly second hand at a reasonable price?
Many thanks to all in advance. I have a photo if you need to see it. It is a beige interior mirror by the way.
    Cheers,
    Mick

Give ope126 a PM. He was/is in the process of installing one in his GTI. I think he got his kit from an overseas supplier.
    Cheers,

Have a look at your other thread of the same title in the other section. I will post up how to do it in there. I'd probably close or leave this thread (my response in the other thread explains why). Cheers.

    Thanks

Thanks Treza. I stupidly deleted the wrong thread, but not to worry, I only have one on there now instead of 2. I shot a note off to ope126 so I hope to hear back from him.

If anyone else has any ideas as to whether I can either repair this auto dimming mirror, replace the glass or find a cheaper source to replace the whole unit it would be very much appreciated.

I have attached an image of the culprit mirror. You can see the top of the mirror where the back of the film is peeling off the glass.

    Cheers,

    Mick
