Another two thumbs up for Volkspower!

Well last week my GTI decided to warn me that it was overheating. I was hoping it was a random problem, but alas it happened again and again. I did a search on Vortex and concluded that it was my water pump that was busted. So I rang up the guys at Volkspower and asked for a quote to change the water pump and timing belt etc. They insisted that I bring the car in to make sure it was the pump and not something simpler.

I dropped her off on Thursday night and got a call promptly on Friday morning to confirm it was my water pump that had shat itself - the previous owner had changed the timing belt but not the pump! Grrr... It's bitter sweet because now the pump, timing belt, tensioners etc have all been replaced and I can relax for (hopefully) 80-100,000 kms. There were a few other issues that the car had which were also sorted out...

Anyway, long story short I picked the car up on Saturday (I couldn't get it Friday because of work) and spent a good 15-20 minutes talking to Dean. He knew his stuff; ran me through the work, showed me the busted water pumps and compared it with the brass impeller style, and gave me a couple of little items that I had been keeping my eye out for months and months. It really made my week.

So yes, I'm chuffed! I'll definitely be continuing my service with Dean and the guys down there as I know the job gets done promptly and properly. Anyone in Melbourne should not hesitate

yeh I like Volkspower.... I go there for most of my parts

take note Mk4, Polo 6n, and Mk5 owners (theres more, I just can't remember them), this plastic waterpump problem is very common.... at 100,000kms get your waterpump, timing belt and tensioner done at the same time
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life
There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

My plastic water pump impeller thing in the mk4 only lasted 60,000kms and the cost of the repair was a shock! Mostly labour time involved to get to it. The actual part is not expensive. And the same goes for the timing belt. My repairer was on the ball enough to suggest they do the timing belt at the same time as it would have been due at the next service anyway. Saved hundreds of $.
