$250 +$100 install + whatever it costs for colour coding
Ok first things first. I just put a deposit on a 2011 Jetta for deliver by 23 Dec 2011. I wasn't happy with the price they wanted that included rear sensors so decided not to get it with the intention of getting the cheaper aftermarket ones.
A friend of mine works for Volkswagen Australia (not a dealership) and he browses this thread so I cannot tell you anything more than this about him. He has enquired on my behalf about fitting in non-Volkswagen sensors. He was told that this will essentially void the warranty of the electrics as aftermarket sensors don't interface properly to the car (eg. they are not "coded" but rather just wired to different parts that indicate whether the car is reversing or not).
This might be of good info for people who have installed or planning to install reverse sensors. VW Australia has every right to void your warranty on the electrics!
What I'd also like to know is if people could recommend any place to source OEM rear sensors and people who could install them.... I live in Sydney. Thanks!

I hope someone can help me a little bit.
This link is selling "genuine" VW front+rear OPS sensors. I've got reason to believe they are Skoda accessories which are identical to VW. They'll work OK (I think) except if you have a look at the listing, there's a part called "1 x 1Z0919281B Switch 1Z0 919 281 B". After a bit of research it seems to be a manual switch to turn off sensors for the Skoda Octavia. I don't believe the VW ones have got these. Does anyone know if this will still work without the switch?

Please don't get VW to do it. My sis got it done by VW and they actually outsourced the installer and don't want deal with any issue with the installation!

I'm getting confused with this thread. I just answered the question for the OP. I have the rear ops and I got Derek from European autotech to install and code. Why are people even mentioning dealers and voiding warranty??
