Is your Mk6 a DSG or manual?

Im pretty sure this will end up being something like 90% DSG and 10% manual, but im curious as to how many people have chosen each gearbox type.

Also post up your main reason for choosing which one you did.

My R is a manual and i chose it for the following reasons:

    - i love proper manual gearboxes
    - i live in a non traffic jammed city so no traffic issues for me
    - the car only gets driven about 50-100km a week on average so i really enjoy driving it with the manual
    - all my previous cars have been manuals (don't like auto's or automated manuals)
    - didn't want the potential DSG "mechatronic" type issues down the track
    - dont like the look of a "auto" shifter in a sporty car

After two manuals then two autos I hope the DSG will provide the best of both worlds.

    After much deliberation, went manual.

    1. Hate auto's
    2. Didn't want to risk any problems with a mechatronic

that said though, I deliberated for about 2 months on which box to get. For the record, the dsg is the only auto box I would ever have... One day when I get old and buy a passat diesel or similar and can't be bothered with the manual anymore (lol)

Per the same thread on the other forum ....

Four options for changing gears, yes thanks.

Add LC, the downshifting and using any of the four drive options to suit my mood at the time (or mix and match them), easy decision. So much more fun.

Allows me to control what matters and when I get too old for the fun factor, I'll buy a manual.

I went with DSG for a few reasons, firstly because I hadn't driven a manual car in 10 years and really wasn't sure about going back to one, secondly I drive around 50kms to work and back in stop start traffic and finally it was fun to have the option of having an auto but being able to change gears if I wanted...

    Manual for me

I much prefer a manual as I find it much more fun to drive, it's also one less thing to break (not that a manual can't break too).

My driving isn't in traffic (or very far) most of the time so manual suits well anyway. Mind you if I was in traffic everyday I think I would seriously consider the DSG.

DSG for me. I've normally preferred manuals in the past, but my wife has back trouble and can't drive a manual in traffic for long. I found the DSG to be a good compromise for people who prefer manuals but must have an auto. People who like autos will complain that it's not as smooth. I like the responsive driveability - even in the 90TSI

DSG for me, had my share of manuals and autos over the years. DSG just something a little different. Started driving autos because the cars I had didn't make them in manuals.

Have no real bias either way except to say I'm not disappointed in my choice this time round. Next set of wheels just might be a manual.
