    Both my DSGs

Didn't you replace the mechatronics in your GTI Candyman?

Is your Mk6 a DSG or manual?

Because I was selling it mate - good selling point

Everyone knows the DSG is less reliable but Ive never worried about reliability with tech under warranty, especially when it's awesome tech that gives you multiple driving options, fun ...

Manual is fine but its boring and tired

I have manual cars available if I feel the need for old school

Edit - my MKV DSG was trouble free for the 90,000 km I drove it

Was it misbehaving or did your dealer feel generous?

Denlo replaced the steering rack, mech unit and drivers side electrics harness

All but the mech unit were faulty

Sold it not long after, as I had always intended to do so

As I said, VWs are VWs

I was set to move to Merc but that went pear shaped

Maybe I'll try again in a year or so after I see how the new hatch delivers

Manuals are never boring. And they're so much more robust. Anyone going to push his Golf properly, should probably be in a manual, especially if it's going to be for the long haul (i.e. taking care of their baby until it's old and gray). The DSG's probably only fail in the hands of really good drivers, who drive exceptionally fast and experience the limits of their vehicle. They probably can't take repeated hard driving, especially when modified and when approaching retirement age. *Yawn*. I'm only yawning because it's late and I'm tired, not because I'm bored. If I were bored, I wouldn't keep posting or following this thread...unless, of course, I were a troll. Goodnight.

Generally speaking a piece of mechanics with, say, 50 moving parts and very little electromechanical controls will be more reliable than a piece of mechanics with, say, 1000 moving parts and a whole stack of electronic and mechatronic components. At least in a statistical or probability study.
It doesn't necessarily mean that the high tech gear is "unreliable" though.

In the case of the VW, most would agree the DSG is less reliable (myself included)

    Still, Corollas are reliable apparently
