Getting back on topic, I chose DSG because of the versatility it offers. Although there are times that I wish it was a real manual. I recently had the DSG tuned, what an amazing transformation.

Back on topic please.
just because my wife can have fun of driving cabrio so opted for DSG
but i'm still loving my MK3 GOLF MANUAL :driver:
Mmmm, except there are no rants in this thread and no one has said one transmission is better than the other, just people giving their reasons for choosing one transmission over the other. So there must be something else making your mind numb (but thanks for sharing), such as people giving cogent reasons for choosing a manual (useful for people still undecided) and the odd mention of words such as "mechatronics".
Just to further reinforce my decision to get a manual.....ive got my friends Mk5 GTI (90kms on the clock) stuck on my front lawn with presumably a failed mechatronics for the DSG.
The car has no forward or reverse drive, gears are flashing on the MFD, and the car cranks but only starts every now and then (but cranks for ages before it starts).
Tow truck to get it tomorrow and take it to the mechanic.
Sounds like a VW, any VW ;)
It was fine one minute - broken the next....
