Yellow Stains on Brake Discs (brake fluid?)

Hi all, I've been cleaning my car and noticed that I have some yellow liquid stains on all four of my brake discs. They do not look like the average dirt sustained from normal driving and it's not the first time I saw them on my brake discs. They do come off after some heavy scrubbing but I'm getting worried that it may be the brake fluid. Does anyone have a clue?

Hey mate,

Thats an easy one, I am guessing your car has been outside, and exposed to some sort of rain over night, its simply water rusting up the left over brake pad filings on the disc,nothing to be concerned about, happens to ever car! if it let stopped for an extended period of time!

Thanks 118TSI! If that's the case then I have nothing to worry about then. However I never noticed these stains on my old car. The water probably didn't drop in the same places I guess!

Yep - as soon as you go driving and use your brakes, it gets rubbed off....

I noticed this on a lot of cars in dealerships while I was shopping for my car.
One dealer got all worried hen i pointed it out and said he'd look into it.
The next dealer quite confidently told me it was normal for this sort of car... something about residue from high carbon brakes

yeh my dealer told me something like that as well
something about iron used in the breaks which makes them more effective but gives that 'corosion' look ....
