    Workshop to upgrade mk6 CECM?

Guys, humble apologies if this has been covered here before (I've done a quick search to no avail) and also for the noob nature of this post. My mate has upgraded his headlights in his mk6 GTi to HID's two weeks ago, and reckons he needs to update his CECM. His current issue is his right front indicator is constantly on and has drained his battery overnight (it may be the case that there is another issue with why his battery is draining). The CECM is the only thing he hasn't upgraded. He is interested in taking the car to some place that will either upgrade his CECM or even replace everything back to standard.

Anyone know of a place in Melb that he can take it to?

He is located in Glen iris (Inner South East Melb).

high line cecm is only needed if you upgrade to oem bixenon because midline cecm does not have any high beam shutter pins.

    Thanks nat for the response.

Just an FYI this is apparently the product that has been installed

Had them for two years without much drama. Since he has upgraded these to HID's two weeks ago, the issue has started (just last night).

before spending for a new cecm, best to scan the car with vagcom first to pinpoint what errors are present.

Hi Everyone I am the friend in question Thanks Datzed

So this is what has happened:

    1) Black DRL LED & CCFL Angel Eyes Dual Beam Projector Head Lights for VolksWagen VW Golf VI 09-13 | Mars Performance

I bought these Halogen headlights off eBay not from the company above (same model) and installed them myself. They were plug n play no coding required. They were working perfectly fine for the last 2 years no errors at all.

    2) 2 weeks ago - I wanted to upgrade the halogen bulbs in my headlights as they were not bright enough ( I wanted to put 5000k White halogens) and got convinced to install HID's.

OSRAM XENARC H7 12V 35W 6000K Xenon HID CANbus Slim Ballast Conversion Kit | Blingwork Automotive Lighting

I had this kit installed by the bling auto works. The HID's worked perfectly fine for the last 2 weeks. It's just that last night I got an error in the dashboard - light error. The front right headlight turn indicator is constantly switched on even when car ignition is off and car is locked. I have no idea what to do? Pretty new at this, was reading online that the CECM has to be upgraded to the high spec but I'm wondering if that's only for OEM headlight installs?

I called up Bling Auto works and they said it could be an error from the rear set of lights, those too are after market plug n play LED lights and have had no major issues with them, I have got 3-4 errors in the whole 2 years the rear lights have been installed but normally turning the ignition on and off sorted this out. So I might install the stock rear lights in and see if the problem solves itself. Not sure if VAGCOM diagnostic and recoding will fix this? Any place I can go to to get the errors checked out? Thanks in advance

I checked everything yesterday, wiring, fuse box and relays - no issues. The Dashboard has the check front right turn indicator warning on. So It's definitely something up with the bulb I am hoping. Will replace the bulb and hopefully that sorts it out.

Thanks for the replies.. So I disconnected the HID's and that did not sort the issue out. I took the head lights out and replaced them with the stock headlights and same error! Will have to book in with VW.

I'm open to any other suggestions?

So I took the car in to Volks affair in South Melbourne, for 30K service and light repair. First thing they asked was whether after market lights had been installed, (My amateur re-fitting of the stock lights and bumper had given it away). I was told that the aftermarket lights had caused an issue with the CECM and that had to be replaced (Damn HID's ), require a 1k0 937087AE CECM ($990 brand new from VW or $475 sourced) , Tried in vain to find one from a wrecker for cheap but couldn't and I didn't want to take a chance if the part wasn't compatible. So including the service I'm looking at a bill just north of $1K inc service :'( Car should hopefully be ready today.
