I don't believe they do this.
You can always access the car if the battery is flt by removing the key-hole cover and using the keyblade to manually unlock the door.
ok so I've had a read of the latest and greatest storage thread. Background: we'll be leaving our babies to fend for themselves outside in the elements for 5 weeks, and making sure they both have a good 30-60min drive before our emotional farewell.
Transporter has mentioned that a battery charge will deplete by ~1% per day so should be fine, but I'm worried about what might happen if the battery condition isn't optimal for whatever reason.
So, on to the actual question .. almost: One of the last not-so-fun cars we had (was either peugeot or holden, can't remember which), decided that it would unlock the car and partially open all four windows when the battery charge went beyond some pre-defined critically low level. When I went to use the car the next morning, at first I thought it'd been broken into, but then quickly realised that the battery was dead.
Has anyone experienced a Golf doing anything remotely like this??

I've flattened my battery while inside it (was retrofitting bluetooth and then busy playing with it, didn't realise the auto headlights were also on) .
Windows don't open and the car was already unlocked but I see no reason for it to need to unlock since there's a secret place to stick your key in the door to unlock manually.
If the battery is flat your dash will (somehow) light up every possible warning indicator and bong 3 times when you try to start it next.
I ran the battery flat retro fitting an RNS as well.
My right rear window did open a qtr when this happened. At first I had no idea how or why this happened, and spent 5 min trying to figure out how I could of hit the window button .... when the door was open and I was working on the middle console.
It wasnt until I realised the battery was dead, that it must of done it as a precaution. Once charged, all was good.
