OK fair enough, a bit sneaky Nulon! lol

I suppose they didn't want to pay for the certification.

You see 504/507 on the bottle and assume it's certified.

Oh well, as long as it really does exceed VW specs then it's good enough for me. Nulon have excellent oils and I'm happy to support an Aussie compaby .

Doesn't say "Äpproved". It says "recommended for & exceeds"

I used to use nulon oils when they first started manufacturing oil. never had issues with my SR20s with it in it, then again, that's an old-tech engine compared to the CCZ I have now.

found out the hard way the difference between 'approved' and 'recommended' with the FIAT.

Lubricant manufacturers carry numerous products in their line-up, which have varying levels of OE approvals. Some products have many, while other products may have none.

Valvoline, like many companies, have a number of products that are approved to various VW oil standards.

As far as the topic of this thread is concerned, Valvoline SynPower XL-III 5W-30 should be approved to VW oil standard 504.00/507.00, as it appears on Volkswagen's list of approved lubricants.

Using the highest quality specs oil for your engine is important as well as changing the oil on time. For many 15,000km or every 12 months will prove too long, but it's usually late when they discover that they should've change the oil more often.

I use only the brands that are made of Group4 base oils (or mostly the Group4 to be precise and not to upset some).

What is the ideal scenario in terms of oil change (10k kays or every 12 months?) for the 2.0 TDI (passat 2011-14)

Also is the 2.0TDI engine known to drink a bit of oil occasionally?

My other cars is a bmw 335i TT 6 cyl petrol and the bmw guideline is something crazy like 20k kays between oil changes for a motor which is known to have high oil temps (they also drink 1L or so every 5-10k kays) and most enthusiasts with tuned engines change oil every 5k kays...

Planning of getting my car Golf TDI serviced by Seb at Euro revolution who uses Fuchs oils. By the looks of Fushs website, it seems like the most approriate oil would be GT1 Pro 5w30 oil which doesnt get a good rep over tdiclub forums being semi synthetic oil. I was thinking of buying Liqui Moly Top Tec 5W-40 myself and supply when it gets service. Whats people opinion on it?

TDIs need a 504/507-spec oil, which Fuchs does have an approval for.

No doubt Seb has this on tap.
