Are wheel caps covered under warranty?

My Golf R wheel cap has come off and I was told they might be covered under warranty, anyone know for sure?

    Faulty clips perhaps .....

I'd push the dealer harder. Unless the caps have been removed at some stage and damaged you should expect then to stay on as designed

Aren't they about $20 to replace??

I don't know how they could be warranty, unless you could prove they were manufacturer defects which meant they sat lose...

My friend had inner wheel liner clips come loose. Dealer was happy to fit new ones and charge $80 for them during the service (they noticed it while servicing the vehicle).
My friends argument to them was. " I didnt remove them, I didnt touch them, I see it as a vehicle defect that they dislodged themselves after 3 years and 30,000 kms of normal usage I dont see why I should pay for bad engineering. If a door falls off while I'm driving a vehicle, will I have to pay for that too?"

They replaced the clips for free.

They are classed as a wear and tear item, if you haven't had you first 15,000 service yet you might have a chance of getting one via warranty if you have had a service then I'd be hitting up the dealership for the cost of new one if " the moral" is a big thing for you. Otherwise you'll just have to wear it , trust me you'll be paying a lot more for stuff later down the track eg brakes and rotors when they wear out etc. So $20 for a new cap isn't that much really.

If they have never been removed there is no "wear and tear"

$20 is too much - don't put up with bull****.

I've got Bens centre caps on my R and they fit much better than the VW ones

    German engineering huh
