umm yes a little.. 3 week wait is a bit of a worry but you need to get a warranty check done and have the issue confirmed..
My 2010 Golf has had a fault since new, where occasionally there is a relay clicking sound from the steering column (that you can feel through the steering wheel) co-incident with the bluetooth phone kit disconnecting and reconnecting. Over the past few months its got progressively worse, with the kit connecting and disconnecting a dozen times per day.
I have scanned with my VAG-COM and found the fault

If you Google this fault you find it is quite common and is fixed by replacing the ignition switch (part number 1K0-905-865-A).
I just called Barloworld Service. Three weeks wait to get them to look at the car. They are not interested in my opinion on what the cause of the fault is. No, they won't order the ignition switch in - so there is little chance of this being sorted in one day.
For what it costs to be off the road while they order in the part, I'm thinking of buying the part now and have it ready to hand to them in three week time when they tell me they need it and it is not in stock.
Is that crazy?

is there another VW dealer you can go to, 3 weeks to take a look seem over the top..
As for them not ordering in the part, i can understand how that would annoy you, but at the same time they can’t take a customers word for it, people would call up saying “i need a new gear box, order it in”, i can see how they would have to check out the fault themselves first.. good luck with it.

Funny things happen at Mascot, must be the fumes from the all of the aeroplanes.
Do yourself a favour and call Chatswood Classic Cars at Artarmon, they'll look after you.

You need to keep in mind that there are a heap of customers who say the same, so if the dealers were to listen to every customers diagnosis it would be a massive **** fight.
JPH I had the same fault in my 118tsi. As you say it was fixed by replacing the electronic part of the IGN switch.
Manifested itself slightly differently because I do not have the BT kit. Has a similar effect to momentarily removing the battery lead. So for me that meant my APR tune kept spontaneously resetting to Stock. I also had some cases of the headlights spontaneously dipping from hi to lo beam when driving at night which was weird but explainable.
Most people are city dwellers and do not have occasion to shut their car down with hi beam still selected. But if you do, (I drive out bush all the time) you will see that when you restart the car, the lights switch to Lo beam even though the stalk is still in the Hi beam position. VW probably did it this way to stop people inadvertently driving off with Hi beam on. You need to toggle back to Lo and Hi to get it back again. Anyway when my IGN switch was faulting it was recreating this power off/on cycle.
Hope you get yours fixed without fuss.

Just visit another dealership.
VW Waitara's service centre is pretty good.
i can see how its frustrating... but as others have said the mechanics need to do their job and satisfy themselves that this is indeed the fault and what parts are needed for the repair. parts are not pre-ordered these days.
I went through the same thing when i had a dsg replaced last year. took around 3 months for it to be eventually changed but there is a process to go through before that will happen so i had to put up with it and return the car to them every 3 weeks or so for another diagnosis and possible solution. pita but what can you do.
if you want i guess you can supply the part when you drop off the car and let them know its there to be used if its the part they need.
good luck.

Unless you have a really trusted mechanic/service centre, it is not a good idea to do this. There is absolutely no guarantee that you will actually have the parts installed.
Unfortunately I have not heard too many good things about BW in Sydney. It might pay you to find another service centre.
