    Ripped off!

I got lots from my dealer

With my Passat CC the sales manager offered to tint my two (tiny) front windows for $595... done for $160 RETAIL by Tint a Car (next door to the dealer) who told me that he no longer did the dealers tinting because he couldn't match the price the dealer was offered by mobile tinters.

Got a wheel alignment that was out and cost me $60 to rectify on same day of purchase.

Promised an umbrella by the dealer principal but three months on I'm still on a promise.

Dealer's keyring. They were "out of VW keyrings"

Was given very explicit instructions on how to fill out the sales experience evaluation survey. Gave a wrap to the salesman but expressed "lack of impression" with sales manager over the tinting issue.

Finally, received by rego papers in the mail a month after purchase in a dealer printed envelope without as much as a compliments slip attached.

Mk VI TDI came with flowers and chocolates, VW keyring and full set of mats (from a different dealer of course)
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

    Flowers and chocolates???!!!!
    Nice touch!

I'm going to wait a little while before filling out the survey... just in case. When I bought my Beetle (2006) I filled it out a little too prematurely. Had loads of problems with it and the dealer - but all after I'd filled out the survey stating that I was happy.

Very happy so far with my tsi. Pretty happy with the salesman too. (He went through the car explaining everything LOADS better than the previous guy did with my Beetle).

Hmmmm.... wonder if I'll get something nice @ first service....

I'm impressed with the Brand loyalty considering you had "loads of problems" with the Beetle. A patient of mine just got the exact same car as yours and looooves it.

Oh, I got a keyring with my last 2 cars. One Mercedes and one VW.

By the way, are you happy? Mine has been getting plenty of use the last few days!!
Yeah VERY happy I'll email you with the rest, but the car is "the one" - s***ts on the Mazda3 - glad to see the end of it, and will most likely be wholesaled away !

Had 13ks on the clock, it's now closer to 150 - in one day
Currently driving 2014 Jeep Cherokee - looking at the 2017 Tiguan 162TSI Highline (Habanero Orange) !

Well, I did a lot of research this time round, and a lot of test driving. Was tossing up between the Mazda 3 and the 118, but just kept coming back. Spoke to a lot of people as well. The Tsi was just fun to drive, felt solid and the quality was obvious.

    My Beetle was another story.....
Had always wanted one from the time I could drive (1986 or thereabouts), but of course the only ones around were really old at the time and I'm no mechanic....
Finally got my yellow buggy in 2006 - a manual tdi with alloys and sunroof. Was rapt with it for the first 20 minutes, until I got home and found the window wouldn't go up...
A minor thing I know, but I had to return to the dealer that same afternoon and that was the start.

After that, it developed a noise which the dealer seemed to think I was imagining.
I went back time after time, and it finally became so loud, they had to acknowledge it and do something.
Turned out to be something to do with the solenoid valve, but 12 times back to Burwin in 6 months was pissing me off no end!
The car itself was great and I really did love it - but being made in Mexico, there was also that lack of attention to detail... little things like the boot not opening first time, the globes falling out of the cavity above the rego plate, the temperature gauge going off randomly every time it got past 25 degrees... things like that. Little things, but very annoying.

Fixed pretty much all but the temp. gauge thing, but decided to sell because I really needed the convenience of 4 doors now that I have to make trips to two different schools.
Sad to see her go really (and so were my kids), but our new little white tsi is winning us over!

2 significant things in this post. 1st, giving away your age (which women often don't do), and second, how do you have so much time to post on this forum if you have kids?

Hope your golf holds up better than your Bug!

P.S: I am kinda impressed by the fact you're into cars so much though. My wife is pretty much only interested in the colour...............

Ha ha... well, I don't really mind telling my age to be honest. I'd like to still be 35 but oh well.... **** happens.

I'm not a rev head or anything, but I do like to drive and I enjoy driving a car thats not boring. I think a car is an extension of your personality and my buggy certainly was that.

Colour is important - I actually started a thread on 'what colour Golf would you choose if they came in a better range of colours!' Lol!

As for my kids, well they are still on school hols so I manage to get to the computer here and there to check emails and make random comments to this blog.... theres some very useful advice to be had on here! (and amusing too at times.... see the thread on 'knocking noise in boot' and the discussion about fuzzy balls!)

sounds like the bug was far from boring!

I'll have to check out the colours thread. You know, I don't think I've ever looked at a car brochure and gone, "if only it came in this colour."

I liked the answer from the CEO of Lamborghini when he was asked what his favourite car colour was....."I like non-colours."

This dealer that you bought your Passat CC off doesn't happen to be Chatswood Classic Cars does it?
