What is Comfort Light Option in MFD Menu?

After changing the time in the MFD Menu yesterday I noticed the "Comfort Light" option ticked in the MFD Menu. Looked up the manual but can't see any mention of this. After unticking it, I didn't notice and difference to my current light functions. Anybody know what it does? Thanks...

Basically when ticked this turns on the lane change function where the indicators will flash a minimum of 3 times when you indicate.

It may sound good, but you cannot cancel the 3 flashes once started. If you try and indicate the other way to cancel, you end up with 3 flashes the other way.

    Thanks for that post!

I found this to be very annoying and always just assumed it was hard coded into the car. Will definitely turn this off asap

Thanks, Wai. I prefer the 3 flash lane change function so I will leave it on, on my car.

No problem, as long as you know where to turn it off.

I thought it was quite a neat idea until I almost had a major accident because of it. I was approaching an intersection in Bendigo and wanted to turn left. I was not that familiar with the intersection and ended up indicating a touch early. There was a street coming in from the left around 25 m from the intersection and a car wanting to turn left saw my indicator and decided to come out. I turned the indicator switch off, but it kept going because of the setting. I foolishly thought that indicating right would cancel it, only now it was going to do its 3 flashes to the right. With all this, drivers did not know what was happening and there was much braking as everyone moved and then propped and left themselves in a rather dangerous position.

As this is promoted as a lane change function, it should only kick in above a certain speed and even then there should be a way of cancelling it.

you can cancel it by putting the indicator lever into the full indication position and then back to neutral position.
so if you accidentally knocked it left then press it fully to indicate left and then back to the centre... this will cancel the lane function.

Agreed, push up or down completely quickly and then return to middle. Bingo. cancelled.

    Not here.

I just went out and turned it back on, then tried to do what you say and all it does is cancel the first 3 clicks but then start 3 clicks on the other side. It does not cancel it, and this is the issue.

One thing I noticed with the menus is that originally the setting to turn this feature on and off was in the Light and Vision and called Comf. Lig.. When I just tried this, it is now labelled Comf. Ind. so it looks like the dealer has applied an update when it went in for its courtesy service. The change however is only to the label and not the way it works.

I love the 3 lane flash. One of the best features of European cars. VW, Audi, BMW, (I haven't driven a recent merc) and even the Ford Focus all have this feature. I can understand the confusion for people who didn't expect it to be there, but once you know it's there and how it works, I think it's great. I guess the initial "almost crash" descibed by wai is just yet another reason why you should be reading the owners manual asap

What sucks about it is when you switch to another car. I had a Falcon hire car recently and kept forgetting I didn't have the 3 lane flash so it flashed once and no more.
