True, but in the GTI if you're tyres are fine and you're on a road which has even grip between your left and right wheels, it doesn't exhibit torque steer, you'll usually just lose grip in both wheels at a similar time.

The guy in the review of the 300KW GTI said it did have some, but bugger all. In my MKV Stage II GTI with 205KW, I couldn't get any at all in the dry, and only slightly in the wet if I purposely turned off the ECU and then irresponsibly put my foot to the floor from a stand still*. Then in that situation the car would usually start moving off in the direction of the camber of the road, rather than always to the left or right. I can't imagine VW have changed the MK6 for the worse in this respect.

*Note that with the original Bridgestone tyres the car would just bounce and shudder, but that was fixed by getting a different brand of tyre

Unfortunately on real roads there is loose asphalt, oil, and general debris that makes uneven grip extremely common. Weight shifting also promotes wheelspin in a FWD.

Hey, I'm not bagging our beloved Golf, I'm just making the point that AWD does indeed have its advantages in this case.

Oh undoubtly... but it's more to do with that little issue you just mentioned there... Weight shifting! Plus the fact that 4 wheels have more grip than 2

You may not notice AWD until going towards the limit or in the wet but it does remain more composed and holds on better. As others have said RWD and AWD are most desireable, but i'd still love to have a GTI and just as good in most situations.

They are all good and better than the other hot hatches in the market!

I'd settle for a RWD GTI

I just said to them look up the Frankfurt motor show photos and I want THAT blue hehe. I still have no idea what it is even called
I added the sunroof on the assumption that leather and xenons will be standard carried over from the R32.

With the pre-orders I believe they will just bring in X number of cars in a range of colour and specs. Then just match up pre-orders as close as possible. I said I was happy to take the 19" upgrade and recaros if the price was right

But I have been told by another dealer since that the RRP will be low 60's, ACC standard but not leather. But to be honest, the information presented wasn't THAT convincing. They did say that there will be ZERO discounting until 2011 as most likely after the initial batch, might only be 1 more shipment in 2010. That sounded fairly reasonable though.

Gotta say though after seeing these photos...

Yeah I like white with black as well, but it's a more alternate look but still cheapens the look of the car IMO. Blue looks great in all the promo shots.

Agree with you there. I got the press shot as the background on my laptop, desktop and netbook hehe. It's mesmerising!

Yeah more frustrating than waiting 4-6 months to get the fking thing.

Blue still gets dusty pretty quick (similar to black) but if you wash it once a week not really a problem. I still wouldn't mind CW next time.
