I bought a pair from the same guy... great service and they look a treat. Obviously something is/was meant to be positioned on the levers, wondering what happened to the process... cost cutting or just plain forgot??
I just bought a set of these seat trim parts from a German ebay seller. Cost was $19 euros (about $27 AUD) posted. I emailed him in German last night (using Google translate) and asked if he would ship to Australia - he replied in English this morning and said yes no problems. Paid with PayPal. He just sent me another email an hour ago saying that they have been posted.

Just picked up my Carbonio CAI from Melbourne Performance Centre after work today. Will attempt to install it later tonight!
It's on sale now for $488, down from $575.
Hopefully it's worth it! Anyone installed a Carbonio CAI before? Any hints and tips for me?

No it's pretty easy to install and shouldn't take more than 20mins or so (I put mine on my R last wkend. Only semi tricky bit is getting the carbon intake bit on because it's much bigger than the stock one. It's held on with 2 screws - install the one closest to the passenger side of the car prior to trying to fit the carbon duct (but don't screw it in all the way). Then you can slide the carbon duct into place then do up the last bit of this screw and the other one closer to the middle of the engine bay......hard to describe sorry....
Mate I need help! The engine cover doesn't come off! It's bloody hard to pull off!!
You need to remove the MAP sensor and unclip the plastic pipe from the engine cover to the turbo. Also remove the stock shroud that bolts on to the back of the grill first.
Once thats all off/undone - then its time to remove the engine cover. It is held on with 4 rubber grommet things and they can take a bit of persuading to get them off. Be gentle but firm (dont get carried away) and pull from the back or the side first to loosen one or two of the grommets. Once you get one off then the rest will come of easily.
Thanks Lucas_R all good now! Yeah I did everything the instructions said, but was wondering why the hell was it so hard to pull the cover off. Was afraid something else beneath the cover might still be attached.
The induction sound is definitely louder now but can only be heard with the windows down. Negligible performance increase IMHO. Worth the $500 spent? Hmmm..maybe not but I know I'll be happy every time I pop the hood
Did the installation with buddy of mine who's now going to buy one for his GTI Adidas after sleeping tonight. We also tried yanking off his GTI cover which was bloody effortless compared to the R. A sign of continuous improvement by VW.
