Yeah i don't think they are really necessary and would most likely be way too bright.

I actually think it's not a bad look. I'd be very interested to see better photos under varied ambient light conditions, but for the small outlay I might consider it.

That link also advertises replacement interior footwell lights. Given that the MkVI has footwell illumination while driving, I imagine replacing the stockers with bright LEDs would be ridiculously distracting.

Yeah, that is my concern. Those photos have SO MUCH ambient light that the LED's might be that bad at lighting the plate that they'd be illegal in Australia. It reminds me of this video of an aftermarket place installing a similar LED tailight kit onto a GTI which they'd just done the APR Stage III conversion on:

(Warning: Explicit language is used to describe how bad these LED tailight kits are! lol)

I don't see the point having the plate lit up too much , or it will stand out more than anything else at night.

I have turned them off all together. Less distracting at night.

Interestingly, according to the comments by the guys in that linked thread, the LEDs are so bright that it makes the numberplate difficult to read. This could in of itself present a reason for defecting the car!

    Hey guys.

ECS Tuning have the GTI "Edition30" DSG - Shift Knob on special for 28% off. It's now only US$299.95

I know many people have indicated that they like the look of this from the GTI Adidas Edition. So get on its whilst it's cheap

    Doh!

triode12 messaged me and pointed out that the shifters above from ECS Tuning are left hand drive models.
But, he also pointed out that TM Tuning have the
right hand drive models for only US$279 anyway. They've actually got a huge selection of shifters there, so worth a look if you're considering something like that

    Cheers to triode12!

Don't mind the golf ball but the rest of the shifter is exactly the same and not that cheap.

Yeah. It's a shame you can't get just the "head" of the shifter.
