I've installed ear mudflaps on my Golf. You do have to remove the wheel, and then there's a few screws that go into holes in the wheelarch, plus you have to make a few holes yourself underneath. You get a double-sided A4 sheet with diagrams, but no real written instructions. You'll need a Torx (T20 I think) screwdriver as well.
RNS 510 also gives you the ability to watch DVDs (while parked or moving < ~7kph) and has the 30GB HDD (20 GB for music, 10 for maps). I've copied all of my music to the HDD and can add more via SD card or CD/DVD, but truth be told I haven't used the CD drive in ages. The RNS510 might not be as good as portable navigators, but nothing beats having the maps only one button-push away. :)
