What Accessories are you buying for your MK6 Golf?

As long as the grommets aren't damaged or ripped, you have to mount them into the designated areas on the bottom of the engine cover (tip: use a VERY light coating of grease on the rubber to make it slippery which will make installing easier). You will need to use a flat blade screwdriver to get them to "pop" into place.

Then apply another VERY light coating of grease on the 4 steel mounts that stick up from the top of the engine.

Then line the engine cover up and you will find it goes on with ease.

To this day I haven't been able to get the damn engine cover back on properly! I think maybe 2 - 3 grommets are secure? How did you guys go with getting it back on??

Everyone doing a fuel pump upgrade seems to be using the APR high pressure fuel pump.......which im sure is an excellent product, but am i the only one here who sees the $1500 asking price an absolute rip off??!!!

Has anyone tried the following option at a MUCH more reasonable price:

Autotech High Pressure Fuel Pump Upgrade Kit 2.0T FSI

I have also previously come across another English website (cant find it now...) who also had an upgrade kit for around 200 pounds.

Not really Lucas_R. What you have linked is pieces for a HPFP fuel pump upgrade. You then need to pull apart your fuel pump and upgrade it yourself (or pay someone to do that). Makes me wonder what happens if you then have a "warranty issue". When these things are so sensitive that even a finger print is enough to make them fail, how do you prove that it was the parts and not the installation which caused the fault?

The APR High Pressure Fuel Pump is a COMPLETE HPFP, which is why so many people use it. Also, it's $1695 outright, but only $1230 for an exchange. It's pretty much pointless to buy it outright, so just do the exchange.

Right now, due to the easter sale, it's only $1107 - so it's great value.

I couldn't have explained it any better myself

Essentially ensure the grommets are fully attached to your engine cover. My mate used the handle of a screw driver to help push them back onto the cover. Then push the front grommets in (force is needed) followed by the ones at the back.

Also check that the rubber seal around the engine oil cap is sitting nicely when the cover is back in place.

OK me and my mate have just installed the Carbonio CAI for his GTI Adidas. God the induction sound is fully sick! It almost sounds like a mini BOV every time he releases the throttle while under acceleration.

Definitely worth the money IMHO. If only the CAI on my R sounded the same. Probably the BOV-like sound is a typical characteristic of a pod style filter. Anyone else experienced this?

p/s: The sound was very apparent only while hooning around in an enclosed car park.

Why don't you try fitting the intake from your mates GTI on your R. I was tempted to buy the APR intake for the Mk6 GTI and attempt to fit it to my R (i recon it will fit) but the shop i bought my intake from said that it wouldn't fit......but if you have both there in front of you its worth a try........

But there would be two filters if I did that...APR's Golf R with the stage 2 intake uses the GTI's Carbonio so it should fit but of course the engine cover needs to come off...which makes me wonder if the R's Carbonio is useless should you want to go to stage 2?
