    Just chip it and it will up the power output and smooth the torque curve.

    Power ups to 100kw then with APR's software stage 1

    It should be close to if not better than the GTI then.
    Good luck, 11-13kw at the motor won't make it even comparable to a diesel let alone a GTI.

    You can add in a comfort pack which is cruise, auto wipers and headlights as well as climate control and alloys for 2k (ish).

    You'd be low 30s to get one with dsg and that pack.

    I was passenger in one recently - very quiet and smooth and the turbo only 1.4 pulled very well with 3 people on board and the climate control on.
    You'll need to drive one to see if it is quick enough for your liking.

    The 118tsi will be significantly speedier, and falls within the 39k budget you mentioned in your ralliart thread.

    The 118TSI would be much more like the polo GTI than the 90. Probably even a bit quicker with the DSG. I'm also led to believe the twincharger motor has a much larger spread of usable power than the 1.4 turbo.

    By the time you option up the 118 you may as well get a GTI though

    Have a look at the spreadsheet in this thread for a good idea of prices people have been paying, including on roads.

    Hmmm.. you could possibly get into a base 118TSI with DSG for that price. Don't over capitalise on the base model 90TSI.

    90TSI 0-100km/h = 9.5sec according to VW brochure.
    103TDI = 9.3sec.
    118TSI = 8.0sec.

    My 118TSI, 6spd manual, metallic paint came in at $31k drive-away with floor mats, full tank of fuel and 1500k and 7500k services (for whatever the unscheduled services are worth!).

    I figure a $1800 APR tune is going to give me GTI levels of power, so not bad for <$33K.

    My immediate capital budget was restricted by the better half, but no doubt I can squeeze something out of the ongoing operational budget for things like suspension, wheels, etc.. Getting the best base to work with for the lowest price was my goal.
    Scirocco R | DSG | 19" Talladegas | Viper Green
    MkVI Golf 118TSI | 6spd Man | 17" Classixs | APR Stage I
    MkV Jetta 2.0 TFSI | DSG | 18" Charlestons | APR Stage II
