My car does the same and every MK6 will do it. It's not that much water coming out to cause any damage inside. If you didn't have these drain holes in the door frame the whole door would fill up with water. Every car has drain holes in the door frames.
I wouldn't really call it a feature. And as if you would have trouble selling the car. Are you going to demonstrate to protential buyers that the doors drip some water? Good luck with it all.

Of course they did — even 1920's coachbuilt bodies (and horse-drawn coaches, for that matter) had provision for water to escape from the doors.
The OP's problem is that it accumulates and doesn't escape (as it should) until his doors are opened.
The Mk 6 Golf is the first car in my experience (I don't see every car that's made, of course) to have a dual seal on the door bottoms, and provision should have been made for water to continuously bypass the outer one. That it doesn't do so suggests lack of forethought somewhere in the design department.
That isn't by any means the only point on the Mk 6 that could have been better thought through.
It may seem like a lot of humdrum to you, but $32,000 is a lot of money to me, and for that much money, I (and everyone else experiencing this issue) am entitled to have a reasonable expectation of a brand new car not leaking after rain.
And as for being childish, it is a matter of perspective. I have a legitimate issue which is being ignored by one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. There is absolutely no way I would have purchased this car had I been made aware of the issue, and I am sure other people would feel the same also. If I can't come to a fair resolution with Volkswagen on the issue, I assure you that I will be doing as much as I can to make as much noise as possible about this issue. I won't be going to just News Corp papers, but to Australias Best Cars (I am sure Hyundais don't do this), Car Sales (this is something people need to consider when buying a car) and Fairfax also.
But I shouldn't have to. I have to sell this car once I am done with it (and after the response of Volkswagen, that will be sooner rather than later), and this issue will directly affect the amount of money I will see in resale.
I am also a dissatisfied Vodafone Customer (and yes I have joined the Class Action) because being locked in to a $100/m 2 year contract for a service which is not as advertised or of an acceptable reasonable standard should not be tolerated. And I can't sell my Vodafone contract.
Exactly, and I can assure you that there is absolutely no way in the world I would have purchased this (or any other car) had I been made aware of this issue.
I assure you that if I don't make the person aware of the issue (and VW refuse to fix the issue), that whoever buys it will be calling me after the first time it rains. Notifying the purchaser of any known issues is the ethical thing to do when selling anything, especially something as expensive as a car.
If you don't have ethics, then that is why we have the Department of Fair Trading.
Unfortunately like Vodafone, it seem Volkswagen will try to bully someone by not addressing the issue, and if the only way I can have it addressed it to make noise, then you will hear me from the roof tops!

So far as I can recall most of my VW's have exhibited this behaviour. Several Falcons and Commodores I drove for work did too.
The water would still drain when the door was shut, it just comes out faster when the door is opened.
Sometimes the angle the car is parked on had and impact.
It's not something that would particularly bother me, unless of course the water entered the cabin.

Yeah, I noticed that issue too, but I didn't want to whinge about that.
And contrary to what people may believe, I am actually really enjoying driving the car. I am just so thoroughly disappointed by the response of Volkswagen, and after all of the issues I had with my first Golf (which I loved driving, it just had too many things which were faulty, or broke or just crappy quality), I really hoped and expected more after hearing from the service guys that the Mk5 was made in South Africa and the Mk6 was made in Germany and would be much better.

Is this your first car? Are you a lawyer? I just paid over $65,000 for my R and am not concerned with a little water being captured between 2 seals when it rains. A Hyundai may not retain water but it also isn't as quiet as the Golf at freeway speeds. The water isn't entering the cabin so its not a fault hence VW isn't concerned. The motoring press and DoFT will either tell you its a non issue or humour you by saying they'll look into it then have a good laugh when you leave. If you still own the car in 5/10/15 years time and the door sills rust out due to retained water you may have a claim but good luck proving it.
Anyone that has done proper research on the car they are going to buy will have come to forums like this to find out if there are REAL problems with the car before making the decision to purchase. The person that buys your car will either a) already know about the water retention problem and be happy to pay you less money than market for a problem that doesn't affect the intended purpose of the car or b) not buy the car off you. If you intend trading the car on another then the dealer is going to take you to the cleaners once you tell them the car has problems.
