VW Service couldn't wash my car due to water restrictions

Dropped my car in for its free 1000km service and did not receive the free car clean. They say because of water restrictions I thought given QLD water levels are back to normal this had been lifted.

Is it a case of VW using the water restriction as an excuse to not provide car cleaning in the service?

Yes it is free but indirectly we have paid for a clean.

Did anyone in QLD receive the free car clean as part of the 1000km service?

dude, VW service dept had my car for three days..took apart the dash and passenger door, put it back together, and gave it back to me 5 times dirtier than how it was when I dropped it off to them

it's a matter of your service dept being lazy.

No... there is no 1,000km service.
There is also no 7,500km service.

The first service with all Golf's is 15,000km.

If you're getting additional services for free, I wouldn't be complaining, not having the car cleaned due to possible water restrictions...

my dealer told me to do 1500 km and then every 15 000km....even wrote that on the sticker (1500km). If I dont do it at 1500 km could it void the warranty?

I never used to let the dealer wash my car after a service, have heard a few horror stories of cars coming back with scratches and swirl marks from them using dirty chamois and cloths.

Interesting to hear there is no 1000kms service though as i'm sure my wrx went in for an oil change at 1k, obviously VW is different.

Edit: just checked, it was 5000 kms or 3 mnths.

I had mine done just over a fortnight ago - I don't think it's a "service" as such as nothing even goes in the logbook... The list of items carried out is basically only fluid levels and just a check there are no bits falling off...

Ok, VW does not control what cars get washed. That's up to the dealer's descretion. So be careful who you start writing complaint letters to. Some dealerships wash every car that goes through the workshop, others only do certain customers' cars, and others don't wash cars at all.

As for the free complimentary service, it's something that the dealer does off it's own bat. It's not subsidised by VW like other manufacturers do. Of the dealers that do it (not all do), it's usually at 1,000klms or 1,500klms. It's pretty much only a kick of the tyres, a top-up of the washer bottle, a stamped service booklet, and a fresh sticker.

Anything you get out of a dealership for free should be taken with appreciation.

    Hope this helps

    Please read the manual.

Sorry to sound harsh here, but there are already 1,243,536 threads on when the first service is. I also already said it in my post above, but I'll say it again in another colour with the hope that people will read it this time.

The first service for all Golf's is 15,000km. There is NO required service before this.

Please don't make me have to close this thread

Surely if you live in SEQ you would be aware of the current restrictions?

You can't wash the car between the hours of 10am and 4pm or at all on Mondays.
