VW dealership is probably the easiest place to get them.
They're certainly a DIY job. Instructions are included.
They're not tinted.
Would I recommend them? No.
Why? They'll eventually fall off.
I'm looking to buy / install some OEM wind deflectors for 3dr MKVI GTI. Anyone know:
- The part no?
- Where I can buy them?
- How much they are?
- Is it a DIY installation?
- (Silly question..) From some of the pics I have seen with them installed on GTI's the deflectors always seem to match the tint of the windows. Is it the case that the deflectors themselves are transparent and they appear to be tinted as well because the windows are all the way up?
Cheers,
sek

i recommend ClimAir weather shields. made in Germany, sport version is dark tinted.
it does not use glue to attach.
also looks slim compared to the vw one.
bought mine fr climair UK, around aud 170 delivered.
Here is a list of the various wind deflectors:

Hey all - thanks for your responses.
Does the VW OEM deflextors attach via glue on the outside of the door?
Nat225 - how do the climair ones attach?

Nat225 would you happen to have any pics of your climair wind deflectors?
The OEM ones use double-sided tape.
While it's quality 3M stuff, occasionally, a batch of warped and mis-shapen weathershields slip through, making them much harder to get a good fit.

Photo for you:
Was told to make sure the surface is as clean as possible (use metho or some other alcoholic solvent), then to attach the WS on a warm/sunny day, and then don't drive the car for the next 4-5 hours.

Ive had mine on for over 2 years and their still firmly affixed, make sure you use the etching liquid and allow it to dry .
i have the oem vw weathershields and its tinted.
it uses a double sided tape, and it took about 5 months before it started to flap around while driving. the front part worked loosse, but luckily it had the rest of the tape still holding it down, i ripped it off, scraped the old tape off and went to bunnings and got the outdoor double sided stuff, and it hasnt moved since.
