Volkswagen Assist

Agree with u 110% Burgs. My 2 month old 77TDi is screwing up big time as it decides to rev only to 1500 revs and thats even with foot to the floor whilst stopping and starting on hills so its not just a mechanical issue its also a safety issue. VW roadside assist were there within 25 mins when i called and reset the ECU and it was all sweet but he said it will happen again and again if i dont get it fixed.. the dealer however said bring it in and we will look at it within 2 weeks.. im not happy. im going there now so hopefully when im there in person theyll actually deal with me properly

Ok to be fair to VW they said theyll look at it tomorrow and chances are i can pick it up 2moro. Fingers crossed!!

I was watching a few YouTube clips on the mk6 being put together in factory... Have to be honest, it looks pretty rough and ready... A lot of human input and a lot of manual screwing of things together where I would have thought machines would precedence for accuracy... I wonder if golf r has tighter quality control?? Would hope so...

No experience in manufacturing but I can only imagine some parts aren't efficient for machine due to the robotic arm requiring some space around it and not being able to reach certain place or not having the delicacy of a manual human hand...

You see... usually the more expensive a car, the higher performance a car, then MORE human labour is involved.
Watch National Geographic or Discovery Channels documentaries on the factories of Ferrari, Lamborghini and the like to see what I mean.

X2 for sure, I was amazed when i saw how they make modern day Ferrari's :)

If anything its your Hyundai's, Daewoo's that would be mainly made by machines, while the chance of human error is lower so is attention to detail and effort put into making the car.

AFAIK, the R is built on the same line as the GTI and other Golf hatchbacks (I recall someone on this forum posting about their factory tour). I wouldn't expect the factory workers to suddenly ramp up the effort when an R comes along, but don't let that bother you. The Golfs are all built to a very high standard of fit and finish overall.

Time to resurrect this thread and for the wrong reasons.

Back in August 2010, I received a 1 year renewal notice from Volkswagen Assist for my 2006 Golf GTI.

Knew I was going to sell the car within the next few months and so enquired as to what happens to my subscription once car is sold.

They said subscription is not transferrable or refundable, but can be tagged on the end of my new vehicle (provided it is another Volkswagen). Based on this advice, I went ahead with the 1 year renewal.

Now six months down the track, car is sold and the day has come to act on that advice to transfer.


But when I rang the number today on the renewal notice, it tells me to ring Volkswagen Assist for further information.

Ring Volkswagen Assist and as expected it goes straight to an operator (who thinks I'm having troubles with my car) with no option to speak to an Accounts person.

Ask the operator whether she can patch me back to Customer Service, and she says they are only contracted to VW and are not provided any customer service number and can't help. Whilst she put me on hold, I hear an NRMA ad playing.

I know from the past that Mondial Assistance is really the people that administer Volkswagen Assist and most probably the mob that charged me for the 1 year renewal. So I rang them and they now tell me that they don't look after VW anymore and the arrangement stops 3-4 months ago.

What the fcuk is going on?

Not only have I I lost the remaining 6 months subscription on the old car, I really don't know who the hell is Volkswagen Assist anymore. Faceless mob who are happy just to take your money, but uncontactable when you want to contact them about something other than a breakdown.

This is just a mess and nobody seems to want to own or be responsible for this!

VWA, Mondial & NRMA are all saying speak to the other guy!

Hi aussietig. Have you called the dealer you purchased your car from? Or have you tried contacting Volkswagen Group Australia?

Rang VGA, they can only pass on my number and query to the phantom "Volkswagen Assist". I am to expect a 2 business day turnaround.

Have put the enquiry to my dealer who sold me the Tig and waiting response ... but really it's not their problem to sort out, since I'm wanting to transfer the existing subscription on the sold Golf onto the end of the free 3 year membership on the Tig.
