I paid RACQ comprehensive insurance on my DOA Golf 6, now I have to pay another $1960 to reduce my excess fee to $0 or pay $2.5K to hire car company!?

Dealer just look so different Before have your bank cheque and after.

A $1000 dollars DOA iPhone can be replace immediately, why my $35000 worth Golf can't?

You pay more and you get less ??? or less is more?

This is a strange world!
OK. You have a hire car to drive while the fault is fixed. It doesn't matter if they need 1, 3, or 20 goes at it.

I would be taking more steps with the extra excess, that is not a proper outcome in my view. You are talking of paying for a zero excess, but in truth you don't have a zero excess with your RACQ policy, do you?

Talk to RACQ, they could come to the party with your policy covering the excess excess, given that they are facing no risk under the policy until you take posession again. In the meantime, don't have an accident that is your fault, just as I'm sure you wouldn't in the new car.

You are still confusing the dealer's responsibility with the manufacturer's responsibility.

The comparison with the phone is ridiculous. When you buy a house that has faults, you won't get that swapped either, but it's much more money still. It's even easier to get an apricot swapped than a phone. The point is, the cheaper the product, the easier it is to get swapped.
