Wow this isn't good news. I would be demanding a loan car at the very least now. 3 wks with no car. I would make then pay for a rental if they can't provide a loan car. Better talk to a supervisor

22nd/Dec/2010 2:45pm Dealer called, Throttle Wire fitted in, But SAME Error again. VW Tech suggest replace the Engine Computer MAY fix the problem, Needs to order from Germany, will take 3-4 Weeks to arrive then fit-in.

Loan car needs to take back due to its Sales Department Demo Car.

VW Representative will contact me tomorrow morning.

Still at least we do not have dangerous accelerator problem as Toyota had with the Prious (and I think also Lexus). (Car taking off at high speed, can't pull up!)

Brand new car...fault that is unrepairable so far...out of "enjoyment" of purchased item for weeks...no end in sight.

Suggest you get some legal advice on this matter. You might be surprised at what a lawyer's letter can do in situations like this.

Sometimes less means more. I would let the dealer repair the car first before threatening someone with the lawyer. So far they have done nothing wrong and are working on it, what more could you want? I'm sure they do what they can.

"Heres your new car, p.s. its junk!" Thats a lemon. Give it back i reckon.

If I buy a new phone. and its D.O.A, I would take it back to the place I bought it for a refund or exchange. If on the other hand it stops working 6 months later, I would then give the manufacturer a call and go through normal routine.

Just take everyones advice. Give them this chance to fix it. Some advice: Make sure you are keeping a record of all dates, phone calls and promises of the conversations you are having.

If the fix works, great everyones happy. But if not, tell them first before they touch your car, if it does not get fixed with the next attempt at fixing it, you want a change of car as per the other dealers suggestion. Dermott said it should be ok to do if the car is obviously a lemon.

So one more chance to fix, if no good, bring the hammer down. And thats how I would tell even my best my mate to do it.

Otherwise the car might give you headaches for a long time. Fix now, or change.

And if it gets funny over the next 2 weeks, get a lawyer. Dont be a bitch just do it.

I agree mate...It seems as if you have been very reasonable with this. They have tried how many attempts to fix this now???

We had a new Astra in 2000 give us endless problems since new, and the outcome at the NSW fair trading tribunal was that the Holden dealership had to buy back the car from us. Yes we lost out on a portion of the pro-rata cost etc, but it solved the issue.

You have not had it for longer than one day with this issue arising.

VW Australia should be brought into this...
or if you really want attention, there is that wonder called tabloid TV journalism in the form of Today Tonight or ACA. Sometimes just mentioing this can move mountains. Picture the report: "Mr ---- saved long and hard, working three jobs to provide a safe and reliable car for his family over christmas and beyond, but now he has been left in the cold by.....blah blah (you get the point?) and now the loan car has been greedily withdrawn so that the salesman can use it to go away on his own cheery holiday over xmas...."
