The fault and delay in the replacement part are forgivable (manure happens), not giving you a set of wheels to get around in is not.

Agreed, them requesting the loan car back is unacceptable.
If they are unable to supply a VW loan vehicle, then they should organise a loan vehicle through an external party.

The warranty is covered by VW Australia, so it is quite right that they provided the loan car.

You've had some bad luck, but I'm glad to hear that they are trying to do the right thing by you. Be patient, in a few weeks time you'll have your new car and all of this behind you.

LOL - VW gave you a Toyota. The irony in that is delicious. That's like... "I bought a Holden and it died on day 1. So Holden gave me a Ford."

Well if it is any consolation, if in fact your issue is electronics, then once the defective module is found, you should be just fine. Not all electronic assemblies are fully tested before they leave a manufacturing plant, and those that are defective usually fail in a very short time after being put into service. If a component does not fail after about the first 100 hrs of use, then it is going to have a long life. You have what is called "Infant Mortality".

The fact that their aren't any ECU spares in Australia for your car shows that your situation is pretty much a fluke. I bet that after this, VW has at least one spare ECU for your model configuration in country from now on.

Pity you had to have an argument about a hire car but it is indeed a good sign they have provided you a hire car. As for it being a Toyota I am betting that's what hire companies provide not VW

If you haven't already go see a lawyer just to find out where you stand and what options you have. I am really surprised VW didn't just get you a new car and as mentioned in previous posts resell your car once fixed given it has only 45km on the clock which is only 10km more than when I collected my brand new car.

My Golf R is a lease car through work and the majority of it comes out of my own pocket, $700 a fortnight to be exact. The paperwork for the lease had to be processed before I went to collect the vehicle so the cheque could be issued to the dealer prior to collection, this would mean if it happened to me that I would be out of pocket $2000 or more given the ETA on parts all the while with no mode of transport of the car I paid for.

I could only imagine Dermot would provide me with a loan car as that's the type of guy he is and try and rectify the issue ASAP but I still wouldn't be all that impressed and worried about what else might be wrong with the car.

If VW which is a multi billion dollar company, lets not forget that part here, they are rolling in money! really cared about it's reputation and customer satisfaction they would agree to replace the car if the ECU doesn't resolve the issue, I think 6-8 weeks without a car that's paid for and has had multiple parts already replaced is more than resonable.
