VCDS in Adelaide to disable brake pad warning?

Hi all,

My brake pad warning lamp is on, just discovered it's because the sensor is completely severed. Is there anyone in the Adelaide area, preferably down south, that could disable it with VCDS for me? I'm not particularly bothered by having it functioning. Happy to pay!

Photos for interest. No idea how this happened, but it came on for the first time heading down the SE Freeway and has never left.

Is that cut on the brake sensor side or the car side?

You can bypass the sensor by just shorting the two terminals, the ECU is just looking for connectivity to the pad sensor that gets cut when the pad gets too low.

It's cut on the car side, that's the actual connector for the sensor plug going up to the car. I was actually in there because I was going to cut the pad end and short it to stop it complaining (I knew pads were fine), but I guess this is why it was complaining! Can I still short it somehow the way it is?

You're better off repairing it if that's the case; I am pretty sure the part number is 1J0973802, but I will check it tonight against ETKA.
The pins are "Micro Timer II" from TE.

Otherwise, remove the remains of the connector and the cable boot, solder and heatsink the cables together.

Yep, that is the correct part if you are still in the 2009 TSI.

Pins are TE 964269-2, or you can get the VW repair wire 000 979 132 E

I am still in the '09, yeah. Thanks a lot, that's super helpful. Doubt i'd be equipped to fit that myself - unless you can suggest a good guide? - and i've already sunk a large amount of money into this thing just this year alone, so i'm not keen on paying too much more. I'm trying to get it ready to sell and this + replacing the headliner are the last couple hold outs. Was really hoping to just code it out and let it be someone else'e problem, to be brutally honest. Who needs a brake pad sensor anyway?

When you say to solder the cables together, do you mean end to end in a loop? I think I’ll give the soldering a shot

Yep, strip and join the two wires together with solder and heat shrink (They will need to be repaired at some point anyway.)
This should trick the system into thinking the pad sensor is still intact.
