isnt the mk6 a 1st gen?
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
I think the Threshhold is 20% Drop from Initial Set pressure..
Afterall it is only really calculating it based off Wheel Speeds etc..
the 2008 MkV jetta that i had had the TPMS and i found it worked quite well. If ALL of your tyres drop by the same amount then it would not trigger the alarm as it was a comparison between all of the wheels on the car. When i had a slow leak in one tyre it detected a loss of about 6 psi in that tyre compared to the others. Turned out I had a screw imbedded in the tread causing the leak.

I had it go off recently in a carpark on a sharp turn into a park.
Checked all pressures - all spot on and same as they have been for months
Reset it and hasnt been an issue since (few weeks back)
On my MKV GTI, it did detect a slow leak very early on - was impressed.
Electronics huh, not always what you would hope (well, especially ones from VW)
I went on a long trip (900km drive) a few weeks back and stupidly didn't check the tyre pressures beforehand. Turns out I had a slow leak in the front right and off went the warning in the middle of nowhere. Upon inspection I found the tyres to look fine but creeped at about 70km/h to the next roadhouse where I found the front right @ 30psi when the others were around the 38psi mark. I was very impressed with the warning system as it alerted me to the issue before it got out of hand!
There is a hack to enable this on vehicles without the button:

I keep thinking I should give it a shot, especially if it's as good as you lot make out

Hi all,
Is it common to have your tyre pressure warning light go off? It happened a couple of weeks ago and VW just reset it after some 'checks'. Late last week it has gone off again... I have checked the pressure on all tyres (over a couple of consective days) and no leaks.
Does anyone know how to reset this?
Is the senor monitoring actual air pressure or change in rolling diameter of the tyre (or something else?)?
I have rung VW to ask them to tell me how to reset this, but they insist on me coming in... Which is fine given i have my usual DSG gearbox compliants to harrass them about. At least it's all under warranty for now.
Thanks!
