The police just put out these EPA notices when they don't know how loud is loud! Decibel is a log scale and a difference in 3db is doubling the sound pressure! So a difference in 2db is not as small as it seems.

I'm sure that there are much louder motor vehicles that pass ADR rules, in the 4 wheels and the 2 wheels form.
Certainly, if they can't test it on the spot, they shouldn't inconvenient people and if they do, they should pay you for the time you lost.
I really hope that, one day the lawyer with enough determination will take on them.

This is a joke to serve such a notice on an R. I was at BP filling up on king George's road on Sunday and the HSV 325 something or rather with quad exhaust had a massive rumble that u can feel vibrate my car. That's the kind of car that should be served!!

I saw another 325 badged HSV the day before and it's rumble was very loud. These cars were probably stock since they're so similar in volume. I like a V8 rumble but not that loud.

Not in ADR-approved factory spec they're not. It's owners (and salesman...) that fit aftermarket pipes and mufflers.

I prefer my bikes loud (not open-pipe harley loud though), for safety reasons in and around traffic.

To the OP: What a joke! You could always write a letter of complaint to the police minister or ombudsman, but don't expect anything credible back.

No logic at all. It can carry 1 passenger and can make much louder noise than the car!
