    Thumbs down Tint-A-Car Fail.

    Hey folks,

I've had some issues with Tintacar in Ferntree Gully with my Polo + Golf GTI being tinted last week.

Firstly, there was marks on the drivers side tint of the polo, which they replaced. Not an issue... or so I thought. They damaged the door trim clip that pushes into the window gap that locks the top of the trim in place. Fortunately I was able to lift the trim up and bend it back into shape and re-insert it.

Secondly, my GTI, how here's where it gets bad. When they were cutting the tint for the passenger front door, they sliced through the door trim rubber on the outside. I took it to the dealer service department at Burwin VW as they pointed me in the direction of this tint organisation as they use them for all their cars and they were apologetic and indicated that it's non trivial to replace and will be quite expensive to rectify. In addiction, both the drivers side windows need to be re-tinted as there are very large bubbles and crap behind them set into the tint and it's been >48 hours. I can see the glue has completely cured as it was left out in the sun to bake on two very warm days.

Ouch that sucks. I sent mine to tint a car at north Melbourne and Peter was really good when he did my car. The guys there all looked like they've done a million cars before. Plus, my Jetta was the first MkVI Jetta he's ever done and it was spot on.

    Hope everything works out though.

    Butchers!

    Sorry to hear!
Id get my money back (at least for the fronts) and go somewhere else to have the fronts re-done. If they stuffed it the first time around you surely cant let them have another crack at it.

I've sent an email with feedback to the General Manager of Tint-A-Car. I hope it helps future customers avoid the pain I've endured. Tinting shouldn't be this hard.

    Ouch mythic...

+1 - butchers. I say give them the chance to rectify the issue and if not, then blast them. But sad about the door rubber that's just careless...

It's gone back to Burwin VW - The service manager John is such a fantastic bloke and has taken this issue on board to resolve for me. They have given me a loan car. He genuinely cares and is an honest, genuine person which is extremely rare. I simply can't think him enough. Were he not married, I'd probably propose to him.

He's liaising with the tint-a-car franchise in question and both my Polo and Golf have tinting issues which will need to be rectified in addition to the lovely present they left for me on my Golf being repaired.

If you have ever wondered what dealership in Victoria to deal with, I can't recommend Burwin VW enough for service. They really do care.

I think Burwin VW have had a few issues with tinting from those guys. They stuffed up my drivers side window. Sales manager was none too pleased as I was there waiting to pick my new car up and when it rolled into the show room he was the one who noticed it was stuffed up. I agree they are a good bunch of guys at Burwin.

Update: The polo is back, the tint job looks perfect. Hooray!

The Golf has been repaired at Tint-A-Car's expense and its tint is being fixed today. Hopefully we'll be re-united tomorrow.
