    Timing chain and water pump

    Hi All,

Timing chain is stretched on our 2009 118TSI, which has done just less than 100k km. Wondering if someone can help on the following please:
    1. Understand from this forum there 2 VW universal timing chain kits for all 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 FSI/TSI engines, which now include the revised VVT/camshaft adjuster - is there a kit number or ID for that please? (We have the start rattle!)
    2. Our independent has stated that the waterpump needs to be removed to change the chain, and that they can't just buy the seal - they need to buy the whole water pump!

Compression test shows we may have avoided the dreaded cracking - touch wood...

    Thank you!

Had my chain and tensioner done on my mk6 GTI and the water pump was never touched. Not sure if they are the same engine though.

If they are doing the chain do the pump as well Saves them removing everything again and a pump is only a $200+ extra whereas if it goes later will be $1000 job to do it
