There some pretty hefty quotes. Not that different to most large dealerships though.

As promised. Photos of my first damage.

    The culprit.

The offending part of the culprit.

    The damage.

All in all, I got off lightly. Unfortunately, they have denied hitting my car even though the damage matches the damage on the truck perfectly, right down to the last minute detail.
If anyone has any advice on how to get them to pay without a witess who saw the exact moment the damage was caused, please let me know.
I guess I'm lucky it only hit the bumper and not the body panels. As far as popping my cherry goes, it's not that earth shattering.

Found a DIY on VW Golf Net later that day and did it myself! Took me 10 mins max!
It's a scam. That's how dealers make their money now. Pay an apprentice $10 an hour and charge them out at $125/hr. When he stuffs your car they wash their hands of it and don't bat an eyelid or lose a wink of sleep. Barloworld Bayside were so lazy with their customer service, that I live literally 2 mins drive from the dealership, yet it was easier for me to buy a car over the phone, fly to Canberra and drive it home! That to me speaks volumes. And it wasn't all driven by price. I wouldn't deal with them again ever.

Sorry to hear/see. Should come up good as new though. Before it goes in though, take photos of all the details of the car - wheels, panels, interior. I'm learning the hard way!

Maybe if you mention that you've taken photos of the entire car they'd be more careful to begin with.

Yes i know its trivial in the great sense of things but the first ding is always the most painful!
I only wish I could just suck or vacuum the metal outward so my eyes don't drift to it everytime I look at the car.
Has anyone else noticed that it doesn't matter where you park your near new Golf in the local shopping centre (even if you have at least 10 bays free to the sides and front and back) someone always park right up against your car?

    +1

I know we humans are social beings , but what is it that compels some people to do this?

BTW, I collected my car from the dealer yesterday after being in for a warranty related matter and after washing it today, I notice a 12mm scratch on the lower part of the drivers door. Looks like it has hit a part of the hoist. The car had done less than 4000ks so I don't need to elaborate on howw pi$$ed off I am.

Got caught in a hail storm last night in Sydney while at the pub. Was spewing as hail stones were about the size of marbles, maybe bit bigger for some. Panicked big time and went to Kev car and find some shelter, couldn't find any. Anyway giving the car a good check after getting home, I found no damage.

However lots of crap on the road driving home, had a look under the front bumper and found scrape marks on two areas under the running lights, obviously from driveways being steep or sipped bumps being little high. Is this normal, I normally creep ever so slowly over these etc, does anywhere else have this damage?

    I'm NOT very happy!

Glad the car took the hail stones without issue.. as for scrapes under the front spoiler.. I got one leaving the dealers on the driveway the day I bought it.. yes it is common, no you cant do anything about it..

    Yes you can.
Always approach an obstacle at a slight angle and reduce the speed a little. Problem solved.
Being a builder I often have to deal with the different regulations that relate to driveways and laybacks. It's often impossible to comply.
Speed humps on the other hand work fine if you obey the recommended speed. 5km/ hour is nearly impossible IMO. Even my ute suspension struggles over the long term with those sort of things.

I assure you my exit from the dealers was less than 5 kph and at an angle, the construct of the driveway was such that you had no choice.. but if you have managed to remain damage free in this department .. happy days
