On the bright side, the whole claim/tow/hirecar process has been very smooth. Also my hire car is a falcon xr6 - such a massive car but quite nice to cruise around in

CF has already been paid for lol! Yeah hope the replacement parts are in stock, I wouldn't be surprised if I actually damaged the suspension arms - it was a pretty decent whack. Will ask for a full report from the repairer when I pick the car up, hopefully within the next 2 weeks since that's how long I have the falcon for. Ploughman's lunch is definitely still on, rain hail or apocalypse

thanks, given that no cosmetic work is needed (which is still to my disbelief) even they should be able to do a pretty good job. The repairer recommended by NRMA in my first prang was top notch, absolutely flawless work (Autotech Smash Repairs in Artarmon).

I got a call from NRMA on Tuesday arvo saying that their preliminary assessment is that the rear left suspension is fubar. The rim is "cracked" and the tyre is "sliced". Front left seems ok but they will do a full alignment on everything anyway. I asked for an ETA but they couldn't give me one yet...

In the meantime, I'm really impressed with the Falcon XR6 loan car! I'd always thought taxis were super comfortable but surprisingly they're great to drive as well; steering is so direct and turning circle is nice and tight. As you know I'm moving house this weekend and the huuuuuuuuuge boot will be ridiculously helpful.

Still, would like the R back sooner rather than later

Got my car back today - they did a great job, but left a scratch on the number plate (ok it's not part of the car, but it wasn't like that pre-accident). The blue border that goes around the plate shows up white where the scratch is (it's a wide one), but I'm thinking I might be able to get a holder for it which might cover it up. Otherwise the only other thing I can think of is to attack it with a blue Sharpie.

Do you reckon one of the dealer will give the the plate holders for free? More advertising for them...

At least it's not as bad as this one I saw the other week.

Also in that garage there was a 2010 Q7 Audi that was written off due to "rain damage". I couldn't feel any moisture in the carpets - would be a steal if you were into that sort of thing and had the money.

Not surprised.. having doesn't it myself on a larger scale in a past car life.. it will come back new, but I will warn you that the result for me was a few more squeaks and creaks..

Oh god, have had a few of the XRs as rentals over the last 6 months

    Absolutely terrible

Wallow about like a shopping trolley, auto sloppy, unresponsive.

Makes me realise how much better the R is (and even the R is nothing special)

    LOL

The R is a good little car but it's not that special.

Above average at most things and the handling could be improved with some work.

Certainly well ahead of an XR6 in almost every area except perhaps space

You are such a kill joy, the R is special, and the whole forum is full of folk who think so.. it is special caus of the way it makes you feel not because it looks or ticks some box. The way it drives makes you want to spend as much time in it as possible. I have never owned a car like that before
