It's more an out-print. Looks like a screw is hidden underneath that lip, and and the panel was pushed around it very hard, but or the screw was pushed up from underneath.

That was what I saw.. looks like something has dropped on it but couldnt say what

The bumper on my R didn't take at all well to plastic repair and the comment was made that the VW bumpers generally don't.
Replacement might be necessary or stick something over it. Hope it all works out for you mate.
Last car I had was rear ended and I had two of those imprints on my bumper plus slight imprint of their number plate. Both imprints were from the number plate screws. The centre of the imprint is where the plastic wasn't compressed due to the shape/space of the screw. If you grab a similar size screw head your will find it fits into the inprint.

Almost a year.....hit a metal bucket that was punted by another car at me. NRMA has it sorted already.....
