No scratches or runs here. Mine has extra paint

Gotta say one good thing about the repairs after looking at R's at dealers

The panel fitment is way better on mine, better than factory now.

VW really suck at panel matching. At least they are consistently average !

Car is great! A bit worried at first since the tyre pressure warning light came on whilst driving home, but I checked the pressures and hit the reset button and it's all good

Both the assessor and I thought that the suspension was fubar, but turns out I just knocked it into its furthest adjustment and the alloy took the brunt of the damage. NRMA said a new 19" talladega + tyre + alignment cost over $2k... I think they're being nice

Interestingly the car handles a bit lighter now, probably a side effect of having a full alignment done.

    Question :(

    Hi guys,

Had to happen eventually - having said that, just over 4 months since delivery isn't too bad given some of the horror stories in this thread.

First things first - I screwed up. Misjudged the height of a stupidly high kerb near Westfields Parramatta doing a u-turn and did this to the front left corner.

It looks significantly worse in the image than in the flesh, you can't actually see it without getting down under the front lip. That said, it goes all the way back to the plastic guard that sits behind the bumper. Reckon it's worth getting fixed or just put it down to the sort of scuffing that is going to happen and move on? Appears to have gone through the clear coat and the scratches are very rough to the touch, but I wouldn't want to spent a huge amount getting it sorted. If it is worth fixing, given it is fairly out of the way and hardly critical, would it be worth investigating a Touch Up Guys style service rather than taking it in to a body shop?

Note: the mark above and to the left of the big scratch isn't another scratch, car hasn't been washed in the last week or so given the lousy Sydney weather.

Secondly - I'm missing a rubberised/plastic screw cap from just inside the drivers' side door. It has been loose since day one, each time I bumped it with my hand it'd pop out, this time I've not noticed it falling out, so no idea where it could be. Where would one find one of these and/or will it be a drama (re: washing the car, heavy rain) to leave it as is, with the screw (and the hole next to said screw) exposed?

Here's a pic of the equivalent cap from the passenger door. It's actually grey, the camera flash has blown it out, apologies for the atrocious mobile phone photos.

Yeah, I popped the same little cap off my passengers front door a week ago, thankfully felt it go, and found it and put it back. Very flimsy fit, won't last I wouldn't suggest!

Floor tile glue and a Golf R don't mix very well. Fark I'm not happy! Tradies need to secure there loads better. Think I've got most of it off the duco but tyre tread looks ***** now that they are bright white. Seems the glue has bonded to the tyre rubber.

Over the past 20 years have owned 4 brand new vehicles and all were dinted or scratched in shopping centre car parks within the first 2 weeks.I would park as far away as could and always some twit in a bomb would come there as well.I think just to do some damage. Since buying this golf 6 weeks ago, no dints yet touch wood, but dealership was a bit rough fitting door actuator last week took a slice in the window tint and also pulled a big thread in door card material. I havent tuned them in yet.
