I've lost count of the number of times I've had to swerve/brake due to people completely failing to check their blind spot or moving as they indicate and *then* checking.

I had a situation years ago where a guy changed lanes as we crossed a set of lights. I was doing about 70 km/h and I hit the brakes, locked up and kept on going in a straight line into the curb of the road. I missed a telegraph pole by inches and mounted the curb so hard that it smashed my axles etc. and ended up costing about $4,000 in damage. Do you think the guy stopped to see if I was ok? Of course he didn't. I managed to memorise his plate and a witness returned to the scene as did the police. Despite all of that and the police verifying my account based on tyre marks etc, all of the costs came out of my pocket because there was no 'contact'.

I swore that the next time someone cut me off I'd just carry on into the back of them but it's a natural reaction to slam on the anchors and the next time it did happen it was with a young mother with a baby in the back. Fortunately this time she stopped and was extremely grateful and offered to pay for any damage (mounted the curb again but this time at low speed).

I hope it's an easy and relatively painless repair job!
If someone cuts you off, make sure you have a witness as I guarantee the other driver will claim your fault for running up the back of them. Had a friend who was cut off by someone who was trying to get to a service station from the middle lane. He was lucky for having a witness as even the police blamed him first.

Mine lasted about 2 months, some a-hole has opened their door carelessly onto the passenger side and dented the door. It's going into a panel beater on Wednesday to have it fixed ($75) and will take a couple of hours

ok... my first post in this thread... never thought I will end up having to write in this thread until today.

my car got keyed in Burwood plaza carpark... both doors on the left hand side got keyed. looks like some %*(#&#@ moron decided that they cannot afford a new VW and have to cause damage to others' property.

my car is only just over 3 months old FFS and I intent to keep it for at least 10 years. I replaced my volvo after 12 years and I also had keyed on left hand side for both doors too.

$&*(@#%&#* how lucky is that huh? what da F?CK!!! why are people SOOO F LOW nowadays!

sorry about the rampaging in here as I never done anything like this to people and they have to do this to you.

anyway, does anyone have any recommendation on repairers so that my doors can be repaired and look new (hopefully without the the paint doesn't match etc)?

again, sorry about the post as I'm sooooooo piss after you saved up with your blood money buying something nice to appreciate your hard work and some moron has to lay their hands to damage it.

Sorry to hear. That sucks severely. I dread people opening their doors on my car. I always try to park out of the way next to walls or next to sensibly parked cars that aren't **** boxes.

I feel for you mate, you have every right to rampage about it. Some people are just plain arseholes.... Hope they get theirs back some day soon!

A chemist delivery boy (belonging to the pharamcist below my clinic) tonight decided to throw some hard plastic object against a wall. And guess what? It bounces off, hits my 8 week old car and chips the paint in one spot on my bonet and another on the front quarter panel. To say I'm upset is somewhat of an understatement. Little 14 year old s*#t. Wanted to belt him, but I'm an adult and know better.......supposedly.

Kept my cool. What was the point anyway. Far worse happens every day. Just so careless. Anyways, Chemist was very good. I got the impression they would pay to have it repaired. Just a massive PITA

It's kinda of depressing that you get people with such an ill intent to cause malicious damage to others perhaps for the joy of that person have to spend money to fix it or whatever.

Personally I can stand careless mistake when someone carelessly open their door and accidentally hit ur car... But with ill intent like this... Sigh.

Surely the effect has worn off a bit. Still hurt everytime ilook at it and not sure how tough the rust proofing can withstand that and whether I should get it repaired.

Oh well. Life goes on I suppose and I'll be one repair poorer
