4. Even though the badge says Golf or GTI its actually a sixth (6th) generation model, not a fourth (4th). Or to put it another way, as the Romans say, VI not IV
Sorry mate, couldn't resist it.

So it's been a week since I've had my new GTi and I'm still coming across some surprises that I was not previously aware of. Makes me wonder if there's anything else I'm missing. I've seen a few of these points mentioned in other threads but not all at once...
1. There is only one asymmetrical reverse light. The alternate light is not broken, its a fog light.
A friend pointed out the 'broken' light. The friendly man at a service centre informed me that it wasn't a problem when I called to request a bulb replacement..
2. Once stalled, you have to switch the ignition all the way off and on again to restart the car.
Made stalling in the Krispy Kreme drive-through even more embarrassing... my previous car had the clutch of a truck!
3. Holding down the 'unlock' button on your remote will roll down all the windows. Holding down the 'lock' button will roll back up any open windows (or sunroof!).
By chance saw this mentioned in a thread here; have been messing around with it ever since.
So both good and bad. Does anybody else have anything up their sleeve that will either put a grin to my face or save some embarrassment?

This thread is similar to another one:
Golf GTI: the good, the bad, the weird...and appreciation thread
is there any way to hook up the 'fog' light to use as second reverse light?

If you have a laptop and ~$300 to burn there's a lot more you can do with your car (I.e. hidden settings/features):
