Thread: Are these exposed wire behind the accelerator normal?

    They're all built in Wolfsburg now.

    Noticed this as well. Doesn't bother me though. Just gotta take extra care when vacuuming I guess

    Well thats good then, since when did this start?
    And yes i did notice that when i tracked my car if left the factory in Wolfsburg so i was a bit confused as to why it went to RSA to Germany then to Aus?
    But all makes sence now.

    Ever since the Mk6 was released.

    There is one exception - the Mk6 Golf Wagon is built in Mexico.

    The wires behind the accelerator on our Wolfsburg built Mk5 GTI are also exposed, same as described by the OP.

    Does look a bit untidy.

    Same deal in my German built MKV Pirelli.... bit of electrical tape would hide it if you're concerned. Looks to be part of the button under the accelerator pedal that is used to register when you put your accelerator all the way to the floor.

    Hrrm so was the MK5 built in RSA then?
    Its not a big deal but im just wondering where i heard it from that the 5 Door GTI's are built in RSA??

    I believe 5 door MKVs were built in RSA. 3 door MKVs were built in Germany. The exception is the Pirelli edition which were all built in Germany regardless of how many doors they had.

    I'm not sure about R32s though...

    Even my Jetta has these wires showing. But who has their head down near the acceleration anyway? Doesn't bother me or the wife.
