    Suspension or DSG clunk?

    Hi All,

I've recently just noticed this problem, whenever I go over a small speed bump, at around 7-10km/h, there's a clunk that comes from the front left side of the car. There's no noise when I go slower. Has anyone else experienced this before? Would this be a suspension issue or just a noisy DSG?

    Thanks.

Its hard to diagnose without hearing it, but i would be leaning more toward suspension components. Is it just when you go over speed bumps? Is it noticeable during cornering or acceleration/deceleration?

I don't believe either DSG (7-speed dry clutch or 6-speed wet clutch) exhibits a low-speed clunk... it's certainly not a common problem. Take the speed hump held in first gear, then in second, and see if the car clunks in both gears.

But as above, my money's on the suspension. If you lean on the front left quarter-panel with some force when the car is stationary, can you hear anything? Might be worth a quick trip to your dealer to get them to check the struts/towers/bushes/etc.

Damn, I just noticed this too on sometimes when running over man hole covers, and over a long wave bump (Fifth Gear - Mercedes E-Class quality test (Part 1/4) - YouTube) near my house. Looks I'll have to get this looked at, at the dealer.
