Supercharger clutches are pretty common to be replaced. robmyster, no need to worry bout excess fuel being dumped in, the car knows there is no boost so will fuel accordingly

No Boost from the supercharger could also be caused by a faulty PCV or DV.
That was the problem in my case with my GT, the PCV failed and the supercharger wasn't able to produce boost. The PCV and DV in the Golf are common points of failure. The Dealer replaced both the PCV and DV to be sure.
As logger has mentioned, the only way to be sure is to VAGCOM it.
could also be the regulating flap, its at the top near firewall, it controls the blend between supercharger and turbo, if it stays open you will have no supercharger boost
Yes I still have this problem intermitantly the dealer has not been able to identify what is going on.
The reason I am looking at this is because we have had some hot days lately and the problem has returned in the afternoon on the way home.
No power until 3500 when the turbo comes on.
I think it would be a good idea when we have problems to state the Year, transmission etc., That way we might be able to see if there is a connection... example, 5 people have the problem and they are all 2009 models, or all DSG transmissions,..It also helps when people are researching buying a new car, they can see if an issues have been rectified on newer built models.. just a thought.![]()

Hi Fully, on the first page of this only 2 page thread it states the year model etc of my car.
As for providing a reassuring service to potential buyers, how about VW solving the problems of owners who have allready spent good money on these cars.
Hey Mate,
I saw that you stated the year and model, but others claiming to have the same problem didn’t.
I also agree it’s totally unacceptable to have power one day and not another, clearly there is a fault with your supercharger or an associated part.. I’d keep busting their balls until it’s fixed, or try a different dealer, or lastly make a complaint to head office and see if that gets the ball rolling, when i had a problem with my Mazda i got fed up and contacted head office and it was only then the problem got sorted up. Keep us updated..![]()
