    The sunroof on my S3 never leaked and worked fine. 10 years old and 162000kms.

    Yeah, its an urban myth that relates back to the days when you cut a hole in the roof of the car and got it fitted by a back yard operator.

    Any factory fitted sunroof is no more likely to leak than a window seal or door seal.

    It comes down to preference, i wouldnt buy a car without one as i like having the roof tilted to get air into the cabin withou the need to open the windows and be subjected to all that buffeting.

    I also like it as the GTI has a fairly dark interior and it helps improve the feeling of space and makes the cabin nice and light (with the option to close the blind if need be)

    Its all about the versatility.

    If fear-mongering ever takes hold, we won't have power steering, power windows, disc brakes, or heaven forbid, sunroofs
