Have you looked in the "Recomended Repairers & Parts Suppliers" section?

What part of Sydney are you? No point recomending Camden GTI if you are on the Northern Beaches.

If you are intent on visiting a dealership then all you can do is phone them & ask for a quote. If your willing to visit specialist independants then your options are much better.

thanks for the reply mate - Im actually in South West Sydney so camden could be ok for me. If all VW are going to do is change my oil and clean my filters I don't know how they can get off charging $650!...Any idea on what Camden will charge???

Dropped my Golf in around 7:30 and was given a Golf 90TSI courtesy car and was able to collect the car after 2:30.
General customer service was good and they explained what would be done at the service.

My only criticism was the inaccurate report given when I collected the car, stating all my brake pads were down to 15% and should be replaced. I didn't believe them considering I don't drive hard and that the car's only done 15K, so took it to another mechanic to verify... Luckily I asked for a second opinion!! I also raised concerns upon dropping off my car about the false neutrals and bad jerking of the DSG and believed there was a software update. The end result was no fault codes, so must be ok and a basic reset was done instead.

I am wondering if my car has the latest software updates or not and whether I should take to another dealer like Melville to find out.
Otherwise my experience with them was alright.
I'm fast approaching my first 10,000Km. I'm personally leaning towards JH or Melville for my 15K service at this stage. From what I understand, the service itself consists mostly of a VCDS scan? I just got my Ross-Tech cable a couple of weeks ago. If I just give them a printout of my own full scan and point out what they don't need to worry about, can I drive the price down, and if so; how far? Do they acknowledge customer scans or is it their policy to do the lot anyway and protect their reputation?

My receipts are in the car but IIRC a basic lube, filter, fluid levels, lights, brakes, ECU scan is ~$300. When I did my 60k the dealer quotes ranged between $600-$950 & CGTI was ~$450ish. I also go there because it's convenient as they are 3km down the road from work rather than the 45km to the dealer.

Tell them Brad with the red Skoda sent you & they'll look at you blankly...... LOL.

edit: Was the $650 quote from Wakelings? Blimey, they are making gouging into an art form.

sounds good, I'll give them a call - the quote was from Liverpool VW.....I don't really want to go back there as the salesman stitched me up with lots of promises at the sale....might try muller and muller aswell?

I haven't had experience with M&M but others regard them highly.

I would be driving a GT Sport Diesel now except the salesman at Liverpool VW did his best to "un-sell" me a car. I should buy him a carton of beer as i think i ended up in a better car (for me).

I normally use VW Commercial centre in Kewdale for my commercial VWs, as I bought them there, there convienient, and lend me a Caddy.

One of my guys took one of my Crafters to Wangara once for its service, they dropped him off at home, he said the service chick was hot, but I had to pull my vehicle out of there after they said the brake pads needed replacing, a $2000 job *choke*
Took it to the Isuzu guys who do my trucks, $800, and they aint exactly cheap either.

Took the Mrs Skoda vRS to Melville VW for its 30'000km service, $400, Service was good, close to home, I would not drive to Wangara or even Vic Park to save say $40

Rang around about 15000km service and got the following quotes:
    Wangara - $420

    John Hughes - $385
    Golfwagen - $270-280
    Quattro Motors - $350-400
Although the last two don't offer software update, so seems like no go for me then.

Couldn't get throughout to Melville - must be out for lunch
    Thanks for this...

Can anyone confirm the situation with software updates? My MK6 GTI is due for it's 15k service and I'm near Wangara so would like to use Golfwagen.

why not book your car into a dealer purely for the software update and then service elsewhere. More time, but probably a better service
