Dont think so, you just cant launch properly with FWD. Its quite hard to get a FWD to be 6 or less on the 0-100.
Hi Guys,
Im really curious as to what time you can really get in a stock DSG MK6 GTI??
Some are claiming 6.2 0-100. Is VW being conservative with 6.9? If so why not state 6.2??

Manufacturers understate 0 to 100 times and KW etc all the time. To have the car in different insurance groups, or to protect the market position of another car in their line up etc.
However, I don't think that the stock GTI could do 0 to 100 in 6.2.
6.2 is what Oettinger claim for their Stage I tune which is 184kw and 360nm. An aftermarket company surely has no reason to understate power.
And fyi - you can get GTI's in the 5 second range with Stage II+ / III
New Car Magazine stated that they can achieve 6.3 secs 0-100kph.
Volkswagen test times with 200kg on board and achieve 6.9sec.
Other Aus motoring mags are achieving around 6.6 secs with DSG.
Still reckon the DSG is a few tenths faster than the manual version, having driven both.
Cheers.

I reckon mine is a bit quicker than 6.9. Feels quite a bit quicker than my previous Liberty GT Spec B which was also supposed to do 6.9s. My mate has a new R36 DSG (5.8s to 100). We lined up side by side both using the launch program. He launched harder being AWD but I stayed with him all the way to illegal speeds.
I have a Performance Box that I use for lap timing in my race car. It uses GPS to time 0-100 (and lots of other stuff). I'll use this to time the GTi to 100 and then I'll redo it after APR Stage 1 ECU remap to see what the reality is. I'll post up the results soon. We'll also do the R36 - I reckon I will be mid 6s pre APR and R36 will be low 6s.

i thought the "claimed" times are usually faster than what it really is... i haven't heard many manufactorers underestimate their speed, especially for a sporty car.
This reminds me, I had a conversation with a friend from Germany who works for Bosch, with family members working for VW in engineering capacities. He mentioned to me that using Launch Control on a DSG box is really bad for it and that it significantly reduces it's life. Yes it's a feature of the car so it should be capable without drastically reducing the life of a DSG box but he advised me against using it.
Using Launch control has never interested me as I reckon it's just too brutal anyway.
I know this is just heresay and the old "a mate of a mate of a mate" story but regardless, I thought I'd mention it.
