Did you have to pay your dealer to activate it? Or are they happy to activate those types of thing free of charge? Is it something that you just ask when you are getting your car serviced?

G-rig, what do you mean by the auto up function? Also don't get the rain sensing part. Sorry can someone please clarify?

Was just wondering too on a side note, is it worth getting the VCDS? What I'm asking is how easy is it to use and what is it used for other than what has been posted in the forums (DRL bi-xenon, needle sweep on ignition, fog light corenering etc).

I ment you can program it so you don't have to hold down the keyfob the whole time the windows are going up. ie can press it and let go when they start going up - much better IMO.

Would be good to have, not sure how easy to use the software but still seems a bit expensive if you only use it ocassionally (may be just as good if a forum member to help you out).

    Static Cornering Lights - sometimes

I love my static cornering lights - they work quite well and are very practical around where I live - so much so that it's really obvious to me when they aren't operating.

This has happened half a dozen times recently...

During a one-hour evening drive home from work they work fine. Toward the end of the drive, with a few km remaining, I notice that they aren't doing their thing.

I pull into the driveway in such an attitude that one of the lights should be on. Get out, have a look - no light. Back in the car, switch engine off, restart and the light turns on (note: no change to steering wheel angle or indicator status before/after the reboot).

    Anyone else with similar experience?

(It may be of interest that mine is the only one in Australia with reverse and rear fog lamps on the incorrect side of the car. Dealer has parts to fix them up - just waiting until next service. I'll mention the static cornering lamp issue then, though I'm sure it will behave itself when the time comes)

Yea I noticed that my cornering fog lights don't work some of the time either... Ah well I guess it's just one of the tiny niggles that we'll have to live with, just like the MDI But overall you can't fault the quality of the car

G-rig, what's the chirp sound that you are talking about when locking? Is it the 'ding' sound from the dash?

Just a chirp when you lock the car (not a dash sound), enabled in VCDS. It used to work for unlocking too, but locking is the main thing as you can hear it from a distance.

OK just confirmimg the cornering function does work under 40km/h. In fact standing still.

Dealer delivered the car with the feature turned on about three weeks ago.

My dealer must have activated this function for me - he even made a point of pointing this function out to me during hand over.

Must say the effect is pretty subtle but noticeable.

    Hey Steve,
just a couple of questions.....considering asking my dealer to activate this feature for me also.
I am in Melbourne and just in case they say they cant do it or cant be done, did you get yours done at a Melb dealership?

Once activated, can we turn the feature on/off via MDI or only de-activate again through VAGCOM?

Am I understanding this correctly that turn indicators also activate the corresponding fog light, and if so, wouldnt that look like the other
fog lights bulb had blown when say at red light intersection with right indicator going for example?

I miss not being able to have fog lights on with auto setting head lights like my last car (if I chose to) but yes, I do know that we can be
legally fined if they are on and its not foggy.......still like my fogs on for a bit more visibility.

Also, if I have my fogs manually turned on, does this override the static cornering feature until I turn them off again?
By the way I dont have bi xenons (I know this doesnt affect this feature, but just adding this anyway)

Would appreciate some feedback from you or anyone who has had theirs activated please.
    Cheers

Prior to ordering 118TSI fog lights were $400.00 option. Had included them in my want list.
But on placing actual order, found VW had crossed them off for MY11 unless ordering sports pack. Darn.
Would have really liked to have them, especially now after reading of their additional abilities.
(Sometimes wonder if a third party fitting may be available?)
