    Software Update: DSG 6-speed

Had my car serviced at Mascot yesterday and noted an improvement afterwards.

I have noticed maybe 2-3 times over the last year when i accelerate and got no power transfer to the gears, you hear the sound and engine revolutions but no acceleration. Anyway.. apparently this was fixed in a recent software update for the engine.

In addition to this i now notice more lower end torque and power between 1500-3500rpm? Anyone else had the same experience. (feels almost like a free APR upgrade :p)

So if you are getting your car serviced, make sure you ask if there are any pending software upgrades.

hmmm I think if this is the case there should also be a question to all the tune suppliers if this is going to need reapplication

    Hmm interesting,
I think my own car needs this done. It won't affect the ECU tune of course so there's no additional work required from people like me. I'm not sure on the DSG remaps though as there are two areas that can be modified. Perhaps the DSG's with modified files do not suffer from this issue which then negates the need for an update. CPC could fill us in.
If there was a requirement for the ECU tune to be modified then we'd have to either reload the customers original modified file or preferably create a new file which incorporated the factory fix(es) and the reload it on the customers car at zero cost to the end user

This memo is issued to USA and Canada in November so it's logical that the R is not included. I wonder whether a similar memo has been sent to Australian dealers that includes the R.

If you have got VCDS diagnostics to hand. Check out your firmware standard against page 3 "old software version." standard. If you can't match, doesn't apply.

    North American R's don't have a DSG's anyway.

    Smile

Interesting. Mines a 7 speed DSG on a 77Kw Jetta TDI 2009 model I had since new.On the 30,000k service
techs on test drive noticed "wierd " behaviour of gear change and did "the latest update".
    Different car to drive.
Initially it hardly ever went above 1800 unless "floored" ; "S" seemed not much better and seemed to try and live at 1400 rpm. Also annoying pulling off power downhill and putting it on uphill (as shown by fuel consumption readout) without movement of the accelerator.
Don't know why it came to be necessary, but long live the UPDATE.

The release actually says ".. while breaking and down-shifting..."

Oh dear, not proof read very well...

Unless the 'breaking' part refers to some TSI engines exploding

Damn it! Why did I read this thread? Does this apply to the GTD?

I've had not trouble with my DSG for 5000km, until this morning. Turned right across traffic, using manual mode, display said I was in 3, engine was accelerating (could see the tacho climbing) but the car wasn't accelerating. I backed off and tapped the downshift lever, and all was good in 2nd.

I'm glad I wasn't trying to slot into a gap in traffic!
