Thanks Bud. The GTI will be a difference car that's for sure but at some point everyone has to make the move to more practical means.

I had a look into the Koni as suggested; I'm strangely of the view that I'd rather raise than lower my suspension - and the Koni suggested would further lower it.

I'll probably ask my friendly dealer shortly (but forewarned is forearmed) ... are there any other simple things I could / should look into getting done to make the ride closer to the 'normal' setting on the ACC?

I still have my old Golf (Mk4) and it is a more comfortable drive (!!) and not, I should point out, just because the headrest doesn't push my head forward, like the Mk6 - I've seen other comments on this forum so I know I'm not alone!

Anyway I'm more interested in suspension than the headrest design - although it occurs to me that maybe having to drive in a 'relaxed' position for headrest reasons is making me more sensitive to the bumps.

The non-ACC cars are already configured to be the same as the 'normal' setting on the ACC-equiped cars. Do you mean you'd like to configure your non-ACC car to be the same as the 'comfort' on an ACC-equiped car?

As for the headrest issue. In each of the comments I've seen of this so far this has been someone who had no adjusted the seat correctly, usually during a test drive, and later found through proper adjustment of the seat and headrest height that it was not an issue.
Since you already own the car, I gather you've had time to experiment with the seating position, I'd be very interested in seeing a photo or something of the seat (from the side) and then you sitting in the seat (again from the side) to try and understand how this would be possible.... but then being it's a 5dr car, I'm not sure it'd be possible to see the seat clearly due to the close proximity of the B pillar.

    Hi
My car has the sports pack, which I assume means it is like the ACC in sport mode - hence I want to change it to be more like ACC in normal mode.

For the headrest I can indeed get comfortable but I need to recline slightly more than I'd ideally want to. It's the only car (in my very limited experience) where this is necessary - I think it's due to the fact the headrest points forward and is rigid in its angle. I could raise the headrest right up too but hey ...
